We stayed 4 nights at the Long Range and found it a perfect base for our holiday in Budleigh Salterton. It is located a twelve-minute walk from the East end of the large shingle beach and about 15 minutes from the small town centre. The property has ample free car parking and a delightful, enclosed garden. Our room had two single beds, a bathroom with a shower, tea/coffee facilities, good sized wardrobe and drawers, bedside cabinets, two easy chairs and space for suitcases. There was no desk though to put a computer – but ample power points and a good wi-fi (free). Bryan (the owner who comes from Halifax) could not have been more welcoming or helpful. His Yorkshire warmth is infectious! He clearly explained everything and was on hand to answer any questions. Breakfast was in a bright large morning room and as an option you can also sit outside on the terrace over the garden. It was absolutely excellent with fruit, cereal, full English, ‘Devon rarebit’ (do try that!) and lots of tea and toast! We liked the place very much and would certainly visit again. Budleigh Salterton has a huge pebbly beach with a naturist section at the west end – a long walk over uncomfortable pebbles! We ate at the Feathers hotel and once at the Salterton Arms. Both were good. The beach has three tea rooms with the one at the west end near to the long stay car park (£6 for 24 hours) by far the best value.

We stayed there for 4 nights. The hotel is run by a lovely couple, very welcoming and always ready to make you as comfortable as possible.
They very kindly provided us with vegan options for breakfast, went out of their way to ensure they had sufficient choices for us and always served with a smile.
The location of the hotel is perfect, 5 minute walk from the seafront and 20 minute walk to the town centre.

Just the perfect place to relax and unwind after "lockdown" ! Extremely comfortable room which was well-equipped for limited mobility needs. The hotel is ideally situated for visiting Budleigh Salterton and has easy road links if needing to travel further afield....East Devon has some delightful places to visit. Brian and Lorraine provide an excellent, welcoming environment.....we look forward to another stay !

We just returned home from spending 3 nights at the Long Range and can highly recommend the hotel to others.

The B&B is clean and really well maintained. Rooms are decent size and well appointed. The breakfast was great, with lots of variety, from a daily fruit salad and cereals, to a full English breakfast.

The location is a short 15 minute walk to Budleigh Salterton.

The proprietor, Brian, couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay was nothing short of fantastic, so thank you, we will be back !!

Great position 10-15mins beach front walk from the town centre and few minutes from local bus stop (cheap and frequent). Wonderful views of the nearby coastal cliffs. Rarely found single rooms recently decorated with lovely views or patio door onto private patio. Very helpful owner! Lots of space with large garden, sun patio where you can have breakfast also conservatory and tv lounge. Loved the proper fresh fruit at breakfast with melon and raspberries.

I finally made it back to Budleigh Salterton after two years' absence and having surmounted the various hurdles and obstacles required for overseas' residents due to the pandemic.

It was well worth the effort as neither the Long Range Hotel & its famous welcome nor Budleigh Salterton had changed a bit.

This year Lorraine, Brian and the team had increased the breakfast by a notch, aided by Dave the Chef and Jill the lovely serving lady, making it the talking point of the guests every morning.

We enjoyed the usual large choice for the full English, further refined by a full table service and tasty options such as the Devon Rarebit and a wholesome fruit salad of strawberries, melon & the whole gamut of fresh fruits topped with a delicious creamy plain yogurt.

I even sampled a tasty poached pear freshly picked from the garden.

This kept me going the entire day.

All the other guests were so cheerful and happy that I am sure their stay at the Long Range with Lorraine and Brian was as successful as mine was.

The b&b has a stunning view across the Otter Valley from the back bedrooms, and Brian was a very friendly host. The cooked breakfast was very tasty and the free parking in front of the building was welcome.
Pack an eye mask if visiting in summer, as the curtains aren’t very thick, but it’s a very quiet place. The shower takes a while to warm up but persist as it does get there after a few minutes!

Overall a lovely place from which to explore the area (including the beavers on the Otter which we were lucky enough to see).

Brian made us very welcome as soon as we walked through the door.. Our room was lovely very clean.Breakfast was perfect with lots of variety. Fresh fruit delicious. Beautiful garden we were able to sit out on a couple of days for breakfast. Can we give a special thanks to Tegan our waitress.
One of the day was raining, spent the morning in the lounge and conservatory. Brian came around to everyone asking if they would like Coffee or Tea which was a bonus.
We would not hesitate to give the Long Range Hotel our recommendation.

Lorraine and Brian were lovely. The room was excellent but the mixed fresh fruit followed by the full English breakfast was probably the best out of the thousands of my hotel stays.
The location was quiet ie no traffic noise. I walked there and back to the coast every day then again to the town for dinner. This was not a problem for my 68 year old legs. I look forward to a return visit.

After an absence of two years we finally made it back to the Long Range. Very clean andCovid precautions in place.

Brian, Lorraine and their staff were all great.
Breakfasts were served at table and were piping hot. The bacon was delicious.

We had a lovely time.

Brian, please stock up on the Goslings :-)
