Saughy (pronounced saffy or soffy) Rigg is convenient for the Hadrian's Wall Path and the Pennine Way helped by the proprietors providing a free pick-up and drop-off service as noted by other reviewers. It is in a remote area but offers a bar, restaurant, lounge...More
Stayed here for the 3rd and 4th nights of our Hadrian's Wall walk. Sean picked us up from Steel Rigg car park and the availability of a cold beer in the small, comfy bar on arrival was most welcome after a strenuous day's walk. Our...More

What a great place to stay and so friendly. We fell into the bar after walking 14 miles of hills in blistering heat (having been picked up from 'the wall') and enjoyed some locally brewed real ale. They serve it chilled but if you ask...More
An exellent place to stay during our walk along Hadrians Wall! A place we can recommend everybody. The hosts were friendly, helpful and gave good service. The room was clean, comfortable and we had a tasty dinner in the restaurant. Thank you very much!

Hi there, It has a large lounge/sitting area and plenty of room in the dining room with several tables. It doesn't have a bar as such, but has an alcohol licence and therefore you can buy drinks from them. Nice wine. If you are going for a party, you might want to check with them that they stock the drink you like. They are very accommodating people and she is a very good cook. It is a little quirky and I would describe the lounge as comfortable and lived in. Plenty of room for children to run around outside. We really enjoyed ourselves there but this is not a smart hotel but rather a place that you can relax in and feel at home. I found the bed comfortable. It is not open to the public.
