My boyfriend had a really bad stomach pain and diarrhea after " festival ze maria " . It's expensive I think the food is not fresh or they don't have habit to clean their hands. Just felt disgusting. I will never be back there , he was bad for 3 days and we couldn't enjoy the island.

We traveled with friends who speak Portuguese, thank goodness, as it is a little difficult just in English. Swimming pool is wonderful. Rooms were acceptable. Mattresses need updating as we were stiff every morning. But it was clean. Water pressure very low but then it is an island without natural source for fresh water. Humid smell however is natural to...

This review is about the food festival that the inn hosts every Wednesdays and Saturdays. The festival was highly recommended by one of my friends who were traveling with us and had been there an year ago. Apparently things changed. The buffet is overpriced with drinks costing around 60 reais. They fill three different rooms with tables and there is...

We stayed at Pousada Ze Maria, I believe it is one of the best on the island. We were originally booked at pousada do Vale but as their renovation took longer than expected, they decided to upgrade us to Pousada Ze Maria and covering the difference which I believe was substantial. At Ze Maria we were very comfortable and it...

I stayed 4 nights at this "pousada" (B&B), supposed to be the best in Brazil. The cost was €250/night for the cheapest room. As a comparison it is the same price we pay for the fasano in rio and I'd say you don't get quite the same service: First the room smelled like mold and the bathroom apart from the...

We stayed at Pousada Zé Maria for 4 nights. Our bangalô was large and clean, but the view was partly blocked by a green canvas covering some metal equipment. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was satisfactory. Wi-Fi hardly worked due to rain storms, but this was all over the island. Yes, I would recommend this hotel

This really was a hugely disappointing visit to a pousada that used to have a very good reputation. This is now a tired and run down place in much need of a major refurbishment. Our room seemed to be sitting on a flying ant nest so we were eaten alive. The food, with the exception of breakfast, was really poor...

Let's start with Ze Maria himself, the owner and the one that lends his name to this amazing little hotel. He is a fantastic person and goes out of his way to make all guests feel welcome. That pretty much sets the example for the rest of the staff, which are all amazing. The hotel itself is perfect! Located 3...
