We arrived at the cottages with pizzas as we were told they were not close to restaurants but they had NO paper towels or napkins in the kitchen. Also, they had a cat that would not stay out of the cottages, we even had to close the windows as it jumped up on the window and tried to get in...

15 min drive outside of waitomo caves away from the busy roads etc. Super clean, very friendly family owned business. View from the cottage was breath taking! Perfect for a one night stop. Book in advance is recommended. Basic breakfast provided. The property very well kept with beautiful gardens and great for taking pictures. An added bonus is the grotto...

Stayed at Te Tiro on the drive up to Auckland. What an amazing place, the accommodation is clean and a great set up. Had a really peaceful sleep and it's a real shame our time only permits a single nights visit. Also, the glow worm grotto - so cool

Super cute little pioneer's cottage about 15 minutes outside of Waitomo. The single room features a little kitchenette, a table, a double bed and a ladder leading up to two additional beds underneath the roof. The private toilet/shower are in a separate cottage right next door. The cottage and bathroom were spotless and have everything you'd need or your stay...

Four of us, two couples, were in Waitomo to explore the glow worm caves and stayed in these cottages. The cottages were fine and the breakfast was adequate but the bathrooms were in a separate building from the cabins. It wasn't a long walk, but it was raining that night so we had to put on rain gear to get...

It was my first day in New Zealand and second night after visiting Waitomo Caves. The day could not end any better than arriving in this isolated magical place up in the hills, where I was kindly greeted by a cat at the cottage entrance. Very peaceful and comfortable. I was lucky to have rain during the night that was...

This place is amazing. You overlook the entire area from your front porch, the only sound is that of the sheep somewhere down below. This is where I would want to come to hide away from the world. Except from Rachel and Angus, the owners, who are the friendliest Kiwis we have met. And that is saying a lot since...

This place is a bit of a drive beyond Waitomo but if you want out in the countryside this is a perfect place. Only 2 cabins and each has its own private detached bathroom. Bathroom is modern but bring your own hair dryer. Cottage is cozy with a small frig, microwave, toaster and hot plate. This place is not a...

We were travelling with another couple and spent one night here after doing some cave tours. The friendliest hosts and a wonderful location. Tucked well away so it was incredibly quiet. The cabin was cozy and tidy and amenities were clean. We had a lovely walk through the property at dusk and met the sheep as well. The glow worm...

Were loved staying at these cottages with our children while visiting the otherwise touristy area surrounding the Waitomo Caves. The cottages are cosy and have the most amazing views. Each cottage has a queen size bed as well as a loft with two twin beds. Breakfast is simple (bread, jam, butter, cereal, milk, coffee/tea, but all we needed. Very peaceful....

“Te Tiro is located about 15 mins out of the town centre along a winding road - it is best to find it during daylight - the owners will give you good directions either way”

“Both cabins are the same. Be aware that they are small and the bathrooms are separate but very close by. Do not expect luxurious but come with a sense of adventure. It was difficult to take good photos of the interior of the cabins but there are good ones on the website.”
