From the first moment to the last we enjoyed our stay here. Everything breathes authenticity and history. Breakfast was excellent. John gave us a tip for dinner and that was very well. Excellent mattrasses.

WE stayed in the Nelson Mandela Room, which is cosy and in a wonderful way oldfashioned with all amenties You need! Breakfast was royal in the beautiful dining room, and the owner received us with a glass of wine telling all stories about the past of the house! The pool area is lovely...

Helpful and generous owner. Drinks on arrival. Old victorian style decor with lots of artefacts throughout the lodge. Thrre was no shower only a bath in our room but this was probably a one off. Overall a very comfortable stay.

John, Joy and his entire family welcomed us with such warmth that it felt like we were coming home to friends and family. John very thoughtfully ensured we got a dinner reservation on Christmas Eve when most places were closed The property itself is beautiful...

Nothing seems to be too much trouble for John : we arrived early & were given the freedom of the house as he was going out, including use of the honesty bar ( the first drink being on him). Arranging a table at local restaurants? No problem! The house is a step back to a bygone age, full of genuine...

Our second time in this beautiful house, this time in room 1, a spacious and beautifully decorated room as well as the rest of the house. John is a great host, unfortunately his wife Joy was not around but by himself he made us feel very special and welcome. A great spot on a good location and an excellent breakfast
