Great resort. Pretty pricey. Staff awesome. Must organise a shuttle or taxi as it is about four kilometers from the drop off point in the town. They make everything easy by charging everything to your room.

What a spectacular 4 nights we enjoyed at Villa Margarita! We had the second floor to ourselves and much of the time, the pool and hot tub! It was truly relaxing with great food enjoyed at Jaguar Reef Resort, beverages at Charlies poolside bar, kayaking,...More

You will fly into the international airport from Orlando. From there you can take a 15 min domestic flight via Tropic Air to Dangriga which is 7 miles from Villa Margarita, located in Hopkins. The domestic flight from San Juan to Dangriga was not very expensive $125 or so per person. Viva Belize can arrange land transport from Villa Margarita to Sleeping Giant. It's a 1 1/2 hour drive. From Sleeping Giant back to the international airport is also a land transfer the property can arrange. Viva Belize properties offer a Real Belize experience so you will have a wonderful time.

The area is remote and there are restaurants scattered but a walk is far. The heat limits walking. The hotel rents golf carts for $20 /hr. The resort has free bicycle use. Renting a car is very costly and must be done in Belize City, a 3 hr car ride away. No taxis avail. A good alternative to the resort's Jaguar Reef Restaurant is Rob's, a short 5 minute walk away. During the tourist season there are more small privately owned restaurants in Hopkins ( a 30 minute walk and No street lighting) which I personally didn't sample. The meals at the resort are very good but average 15$-$20 US.
