Overall the hotel was very basic and dated, the lobby area and decor was late 70's. It is poorly managed, and the reception is staffed by a mixture of people, 2 very nice and friendly, and the remaining either speak no English or tell lies to get the hotel out of trouble - please see below. It was of agerage...

I was placed in this hotel as part of a package deal with Thomas Cook. On arriving at the hotel at 4am we were greeted by an old greek man who barely spoke any English. He gave us the key to the room and simply pointed in its general direction. On entering the room (something out of a 70's horror...

The place should be condemed! The cockroaches had better maners than the staff! On arrival to the hotel Helena, we were asked if we wanted Air con, and that it would be a 100euro for 2 weeks. I asked about the description and said that it was advertised as part of the price. Helena, the owner said we would have...

We booked these apartments because they were so central and the brochure said air conditioning was included. The first bit is true but don't be fooled - air conditioning cost £100 extra!! The hotel is like something from the 70s - never updated!! The pool area is filthy and the water was never checked or cleaned. We were self catering...

From cockroaches in the lift, inedible food, unending building noise and indifferent staff, the Helena has to be one of the worst anywhere. The only plus is its location - handy for the beach, a do-able walk from the gorgeous Old Town and plenty of decent eateries on the doorstep. Bed linen was changed just once in two weeks, the...

Just spend two weeks at Helena with my family - the staff on the whole were quite friendly, however, the hotel is in need of refurbishment - a good lick of paint, new furniture in the rooms and poolside area. The hotel is in a great location - set in the New Town and only a short walking distance to...

This hotel was billed as a "small, friendly hotel" and it was accurate on both counts. What the brochure didn't state though was just how poor the hotel is. The corridors were narrow and gloomy with yellowing paint and the rows of featureless doors leading to the bedrooms reminded us rather more of a prison block than a hotel. The...
