Striking the perfect balance of seclusion without solitude, Monastero Santa Rosa allows guests to determine the tone of their stay, whether they're looking to disappear for an intimate getaway or gather with the group and make new acquaintances. It's hard to imagine that the generous grounds, filled with four levels of gardens, lush landscaping, plentiful lounge chairs, and canopied daybeds, serve just 20 rooms and suites. Where most boutique properties might only offer in-room massages, Monastero Santa Rosa hosts a fully equipped spa to rival any major city spa, offering not just treatment rooms, but large-scale amenities that include a sauna, steam, mosaic-tiled experience shower, hydro pool, and tepidarium. Guests are welcome to feel a part of the scene at the library and bar. Engage in a game of chess or cards or read while sipping a martini in the modern cocktail area. Relax down by the pool or discover the resort's secret gardens, quiet sun decks, and indoor relaxation areas. Get the best of both worlds by making your stay as energizing or relaxed as you wish, by selecting different spaces to suit your mood at any time.

The lady who renovated this monastery into the hotel it has now become deserves huge credit for the sympathetic way in which it has been done. The way the history of the monastery has been preserved in such a unique way is truly incredible. With only 20 rooms there is a maximum of 40 guests allowing every person in the hotel massive amounts of personal space. Nothing is rushed at all, instead the staff carry out their duties in an air of serene peace that echoes throughout the hotel. All ( and I mean all ) the staff are exceptionally friendly and approachable - if you have a question then please do not sit in silence - the staff are taught to answer the guest's questions.

The comfort offered in the rooms is exceptional. No expense has been spared in the quality of the fittings in the bathrooms and the beds/linen are to die for. If we could have taken the bed ( Super King ? ) home then we would have. Other guests commented on just how comfortable the beds are in Santa Rosa.

The Michelin starred restaurant ( Il Refettorio ) is stunning and sets the standard for the quality of food on offer throughout the hotel. It is the premiere place to dine in the hotel but the poolside restaurant is excellent as is the other restaurant offering evening meals where Gennaro and his staff will welcome you.

Monastero Santa Rosa offers stunning views of the Amalfi Coast and sits in a phenomenal location. Three points to consider if you are wishing to consider booking or visiting this hotel. The hotel has lifts that go up and down through three levels but access to the gardens and pool area are by steps - another three levels. The second point is that the roads around the hotel are very busy and steep with no pavements, so walking is not an option for someone with mobility problems. The third point is that you can only visit the hotel ( lunch/bar/restaurant ) if you pre book. The hotel does not accept ' walk ins '.

My wife and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and we have to offer a big ' Thank You ' to Mr Ferdinando Alfano ( General Manager ) and all his staff for making our week staying in Monastero Santa Rosa so memorable. We just cannot praise them all highly enough for their friendliness and attention to detail.

Would we return? In a heartbeat!

This was our second stay at this hotel to celebrate our 30th wedding Anniversary and it was as good as five years ago.
All the staff are so friendly and helpful. The reception staff were excellent..always on hand to help at any time. The waiting staff were very attentive, especially Gennaro who is a credit to the hotel. Natalie (at Spa Reception) is such a special young lady who’s English language is excellent and Andrea gave me the best massage ever!.
Lastly the ladies & gentlemen who work away keeping the hotel and rooms spotless and sanitized do a wonderful job - we really appreciated it during these difficult Covid times!.
Monastero Santa Rosa is a very special hotel. The food, the gardens, the views, the attention to detail. You will be truly spoiled ....enjoy!💖

From the front-door greeting and welcome glass of freshly squeezed lemonade to the farewell gift, this hotel was like staying with friends. The detailed restoration of the monastery is matched by the attentiveness of staff. The gardens and pool offered privacy, intimacy and beauty. The breakfast in bed (included in rate) was wonderful and mindful of my food allergy (without needing to ask!). The restaurant space and spa are luxurious yet friendly. I only wish we had planned a longer stay than our two nights.

We stay in international 5 star hotels regularly. Love the intimacy and privacy of this resort. 20 rooms and suites in the 17th century nunnery, all with ocean views. Friendly staff, especially wait and bus staff in the Michelin-starred Il Refettorio. Great breakfasts. The spa is very special. And the spectacular infinity pool. Chef Cristoph Bob gave us a personal tour of the herb and vegetable garden. In addition to the great resort dining onsite, we loved a local restaurant Ristorante Le Bonta del Capo with free roundtrip transportation; Chef Fiore and the entire staff were great; we ate there 3 nights in a row.

We have been meaning to write a review since we visited. Simply a fantastic hotel, and easy to see why it is rated as one of the best in Italy. It sits on a commanding location on the Amalfi coast, with terraced gardens dropping down to an amazing infinity pool which is designed like a pond. Service was excellent and discreet, the food amazing, and the SPA well worth a visit. We would have been back this year, however unfortunately had to cancel due to COVID restrictions.

The restoration of this 17th century Monastery of Dominican Sisters in early 2000s has created a unique setting that is serene, breathtaking and warm. Every corner or view is unique. The food is exquisite. The location is perfectly settled along the Amalfi Coast but not in the bustle of Amalfi Town or Positano. The 200 variety of plants and flowers are worth the stay alone.

When you do decide to leave this beautiful place, a drive or walk down to the beach and restaurants creates a wonderful day excursion or the hike to the Castle above is a nice 2-3 hour trip. You can even eat at the top. We had a car which made arriving quite exciting!

Most importantly soak in every aspect of this place where the staff are waiting to create an authentic experience. For a couple or as a place to bring our adult children this was a gift of a lifetime.

My wife and I stayed at Monastero Santa Rosa for our wedding anniversary and I will start by listing the positives followed by the areas that could be improved.
First of all, the resort and spa is absolutely stunning with every attention to detail. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special and memorable, from the little gifts they left in the room to the surprise anniversary cake they brought us for our first dinner.
The restaurant staff were extremely kind and knowledgeable. We especially appreciate how the team managed to get fragolines for breakfast even though it was not on the menu or even easily found outside the hotel as it was not the season.
The service by the pool could be improved.
We had booked a cocktail class but once we arrived for our appointment no one seamed to know about this and we were told to tell the reception. We were surprised that no one offered to provide a solution. It seamed unorganized and we ended up not taking the class which was a pitty.

Best hotel I have ever stayed at and I’ve travelled. Attention to detail, relaxed excellence, superb food and nothing too much of a problem.

This is a small hotel so very intimate and the staff get to know you quickly which allows them to be proactive. The food is also exceptional. Breakfast is a la carte, all usual offerings hot and cold but at a higher standard and freshly prepared. This is supported by a seasonal breakfast menu of absolutely stunning dishes which I joyfully worked my way through.

If you like, they have a Michelin star restaurant to support their standard dinner restaurant. The starred restaurant il Refetorrio was easily the best food we had of the week and we ate out at other places too such as “Glicine”.

The little extras also make it feel like it’s all about you and not about money. Bubbles on arrival, cakes, complimentary mini bar, suncream if needed, bottled water and the shuttle which will drop/collect you anywhere local are all added value and at your service.

The rooms, the views the Spa all made for an unforgettable experience.

Point blank this is the finest hotel my wife and I have ever stayed at. We had just spent a week touring Venice, Florence and Rome which both exciting but exhausting. Upon arriving the monastero we were literally in awe of the views from every window as we toured the property. Our room, Rosemarinus, was even more breathtaking. Every possible detail that a hotel could consider was done in this room. Incredible views. luxurious bathroom, twice a day room cleaning and the most comfortable beds imaginable.

We were so entralled by this property that we canceled plans on day two of our six days here because we didn't want to leave. The pool could possibly be the best in the entire amalfi coast and with only 20 rooms in the hotel you always felt a sense of deep peace and relaxation.

The food likewise was impeccable and some of the best we had on the coast. There is a michelin starred restaurant but also a more casual option which we ate at for dinner two nights.

The spa likewise was incredible with every imaginable offering and a beautiful layout. Not to be missed during your stay. Try the Nun's Escape which is a two hour massage, facial, hot stone experience. Life changing.

The thing that truly sets this place apart is the service however. The thoughtfulness. The anticipation of needs. The lack of pretense and fussiness about it. Anything we asked for was taken care of without explanation and immediately. As an example whenever we ordered something to the room or needed help it was there in minutes.

The concierge also helped us to set up every aspect of the week before we even arrived and made suggestions on everything we did based on needs and price. Boat tours, beach clubs, restaurant reservations. Free car service to amalfi. The last night of the trip we were eating in the restaurant and the Head Manager was asking us about our stay. My wife mentioned in passing that she had fallen in love with a set of dishes they used during breakfast service and the next morning at check out there was a bag with some of the dishes as a parting gift.

This place is not cheap but if you want to treat yourself to an immersive, deeply peaceful. one of a kind experience that you will never forget then this place is an absolute must.

As a former monastery with numerous garden terraces and an infinity pool this estate is just stunning. The views over the coast are amazing and with only 20 rooms the place has a very relaxed feel. Staff is very friendly and helpful and their on demand shuttle service to Amalfi is handy. The restaurants serve a good breakfast but dinner options are on the pricy side. While this is a very luxurious stay, for a few days it is ideal to explore the Amalfi coast-we had a fantastic time!
