I loved our stay here so much that I cried on departure, in fear of the future of this amazing reserve. Money, and a lot of it, is needed to keep this pristine part of the Amazon protected. If you are lucky enough to stay here, you truly help preserve the existence of this lodge and the livelihoods of the...

Originally it was a ecotourist area. Basically, this resort is now catering fly fishers after a new specimen of fish on a fly--arapaima. (All catch and release) I landed a 75pound one! A very responsible way for the area native tribe to provide jobs and income for their people. The eco-biologist were fascinating. Nightly, they would give presentations about their...

I am an avid and wildlife traveler with experience guiding in rainforests of Costa Rica and Peru and I was quite disappointed with my stay here. We booked to stay for a full week because I know that it takes time to observe wildlife in the rainforest. Uacari is located in a unique type of forest habitat called varzea, an...

Professional, well organised Amazon experience! Staff were sensitive to the environment, displayed great knowledge of the area and kept us busy with an excellent range of activities with their eagle eyes helping us to spot the elusive wildlife. Accomodation, though simple was kept clean and tidy and food was outstanding, catering to all needs. Highly recommend staying here for a...

This is the best place you can stay to get a real taste of the Amazon in all it's glory! But many of the people staying here were disappointed that they didn't see a Jaguar. Wildlife spotting is hard here in the Amazon compared to the Pantanal - the rainforest is so thick. So make sure you know what sort...

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Uakari Lodge in the Mamirua reserve whilst in Brazil working for the Olympics. With 2 weeks off, we decided to spend 4 nights in this magical part of the world. In short, it was the best money we spent on the entire trip. Couple of notes: - The days are structured...

It takes a bit of an effort to get there but it is more than rewarding. The lodge is situated in a curve of one of the many rivers. I think approx 30 guests is maximum. It s not a luxury resort but it does the job. If you go there you have to select a 3, 4 or 7...

This is not for the faint of heart. There is NO AIR CONDITIONING here and the hot water & electricity is from the sun. If you want isolation with sights, sounds and smells, you will enjoy this place. Rustic but clean. Lots of screened windows for ventilation. The food is local and the people super friendly. The trips into the...
