We stayed at Itapoa for 4 nights over new year. We loved this hostel - it's just across the road from the beach but at the north end of the promenade, so a bit away from the noise of the beach bars. The setting is very picturesque - cabins with their own hammocks and seating areas set in a lush garden....

We stayed in the largest of the cabins toward the front of the property and it was great! The staff was always helpful and the decor of the cabin was delightful. I don't know how the rest of them were. Breakfast was good, but always the same. If we stayed longer than just the 4 days we probably would have...

We stayed longer here than initially planned. It was so nice! The last morning the owner got up earlier for us to prepare breakfast because we had to leave so early! What a great service! The cabanas are very comfy and nice! Breakfast is egg, coffee, bread, butter and jam, fruits and juice! Good Wifi!

Maria and Raul are extremely helpful ,we were there with kids, and the typical customer is young couples travelling, or young woman or families local and foreigners. It is situated in the male con, not fancy , but basic needs covered, clean, and you can have access to the kitchen, i felt very safe there

After 14 hours of bus travel I arrived in Puerto Lopez at 10pm on a Monday night. Everything was closed, but Hosteria Itapoa had a place for me. It's a beautiful cabana with a porch (hammocks included!) and one of the nicest bathrooms I've seen in Ecuador (I've been here for the last 3 months). The breakfast (included in the...

We just returned from our fourth year in a row watching the humpback whale migration in Puerto Lopez. We once again stayed at Hosteria Itapoa, where we stay every year. The owners, Raul and Maria, continually work hard to improve the property. This year we had a new mattress on our bed (cabana 6), new ceiling in the loft, and...

The hostel is located over the road from the beach and breakfast is served on a balcony looking over the beach. Breakfast was good - eggs, juice, tea/coffee, bread, jam, fruit - pretty standard for Ecuador! Watch out for the cat who tries to steal your eggs though. I stayed in a dorm with a private bathroom which was great,...

$30 for a double room (with breakfast) with private bathroom The place it's nice, the common areas are big, there's a kitchen that it's closed at 20hs!!!! (this has no sense! I hated that!). Breakfast: eggs/ croissants (2 big ones), butter, etc, really big. You will have it in the cabin overlooking the ocean :) Rooms: hot water, fan, mosquito...

We were there in Feb 2013. The hostal is basically a botanic garden with plants and flowers from the different regions of South America, the owner herself is a biologist. It has small huts each with private bathrooms and mosquito nets. No air conditioner as far as I remember but not necessary since it does not really get that warm!...

We have stayed here for 5 nights and have been very pleased with the cabin (cleaned daily but sheets and towels not changed), the breakfast, and the location. The cafe seems to be closed and the jacuzi not in use, but maybe because this is not high season? Be warned, wifi signal is weak away from communal areas.
