Maxima and her husband are very nice people and the top rooms overlooking the town and some of the beach was pretty nice, compared to the price. The room was large, clean and had hot water. The wifi was a bit sketchy though. Besides that, it was noisy, the beds were quite hard and had a way too small mosquito... More

The place is really close to the beach, market and restaurants. There's a kitchen for guests and a big garden. The owner is really nice, always willing to help with anything. Bathrooms are always clean, price includes towels. I went there for a couple of days, i end up staying for a week.

2 Blocks from the ocean and the main water front restaurants. Price is cheap cheap cheap, rooms with bathroom, hot water, TV and mosquito nets. We went there on 4 different occasions and were always happy. There is an outdoor kitchen if you feel like eating in and preparing your own food. Towels and soap available in each room. Free... I stayed 3 weeks in Puerto Lopez, 11 days at the Hotel Maxima. Armando, the owner, is a nice guy who built the hotel over a period of almost 20 years. He is knowledgeable, helpful, and always around. He has birds, and a cool Kinkajou, who is friendly at night, but closes his door in the daytime. The place has... More

I spent 8 nights at Hostel Maxima, while attending Puerto Lopez Spanish school. This place was recommended by the owner of the school and I'm glad! Overall, a good location (2 blocks from the beach, around the corner from the grocery store, 2 blocks from the Spanish school). It was also very quiet, well-kept and very clean. The kitchen facilities... More

Hotel Maxima was recommended to me by a fellow friend and traveler, so I sought it out when I arrived in Puerto Lopez. I liked the fact that there was a kitchen, and the hotel is between the beach and a modern grocery store. Internet worked outside on the top floor and near the kitchen area. Puerto lopez is nearby... We stayed here for 3 nights during Santa Semana. The hostal was under construction at the time and the restaurant and parking were both closed, although the doors were wide enough for us to fit our motorcycles through and into the courtyard. Our matrimonial room was on the top floor so we had amazing breezes to help cool us off.... More

Great hostal. Even has a monkey. The owners are nice and the place is clean and well kept. Good internet. $1 cab ride from the bus stop. Seriously, 200 characters in a review is a bit much to ask, don't you think?

18 dollars for a double room with en suite. Kitchen not that great and attracted all sorts of animals and bugs due to it being outside. Good location near the beach. Clean rooms and nice staff, all just a bit run down.

This hostel is located a couple of blocks from malecon and 2-3 blocks from bus stop. But it’s not like a huge advantage, since the village is small and everything within 10-20 minutes walk. I had a single room with bathroom en-suite. It was not huge but big enough. There is a fan in the room. Also outside there is... More
