The hotel was perfect! Lovely and clean throughout and all the staff were very attentive and helpful! Breakfast was a hit! Dinner & evening meal was hit and miss as their was limited choice for vegetarians like myself! No entertainment in the day only background music which was chilled (similar to live lounge) The evening entertainment is 3 days a week in which I didn’t explore. The rooms were immaculate condition and the shower I just never wanted to get out of! The place could do with a little bit of liveliness in the day time so we created our own and due to this we met some amazing people! Special thank you to Lucy and Sandra, and Hosin as they catered for our needs! There’s a hotel over the road that is being built which caused some noise in the day time but was forgettable. The pool area was great we managed to get the Belize bed every day and was very comfortable for us both! The water was very cold in the pools, We will return though!

Firstly the hotel itself is very clean, the staff are very hard working and are polite and accommodating. We were self catering but ate there once for lunch. Food was plentiful and varied but uninspiring taste-wise. We tried to upgrade our standard room to one with a plunge pool but we’re told we could only do this through our booking company, which seemed ridiculous as there were loads of rooms free. There was no entertainment which was great for us because we hate that tacky rubbish anyway. The location is on a hillside - not a problem as Gran Canaria is blummin hilly! The issue is it is between two ports and as such is isolated. The only shops/bars are at Europa shopping centre which is a 5min walk. The Hyperdino is useless, the bars/restaurants are tacky Brits-abroad hell-holes full of burger and chips, football shirts, cheap beer and fake eyebrows. There is zero in the way of authentic Spanish culture or cuisine. It’s fine though if that’s your thing. We chose to travel to Mogan by ferry, which was gorgeous. Also did the dolphin search by catamaran which was awesome. The ferries are great - cheap and a great way to get to see the the area from the sea and getting out on the water is unmissable. In short, nice hotel, great staff but limited by location. There was also building work on-going across the valley opposite. We appreciate it’s necessary but 6 of our 7 days they started at 0800 and went right through to 1800. Some days they were still going at 2100. We still had fun but won’t be returning.

The location and Apartments are well-positioned and spotlessly clean. The staff is fantastic. However, the Management loses money by being greedy and missing opportunities. Firstly, I was half board and asked Carlos the Catering manager, if I could have a Salad lunch, rather than the Evening meal as we liked to dine out. He informed me that he would allow it once. As we went to the squash machine to obtain a very weak orange squash in a yoghurt-sized glass, Carlos informed me that all drinks including water and squash were not included in the Half Board option and we had to pay 1.8 Euros per glass. No late checkouts can be purchased, so there is usually a 6-hour wait in the foyer until the coach pick up to the airport. Not returning.

Dear Guest, First of all, thank you for sharing your experience in the Ocean Hill. Regarding your comments on half board, please take the time to read your general terms and conditions or the essential holiday information from your travel agent, where it is clearly written that half board consists of breakfast and evening meal only. Furthermore, you have previously stayed with us on an all-inclusive basis but, as you wrote on the hotel questionnaire yesterday, you chose the half-board option knowing that drinks were not included. Therefore, you were already aware of the differences between these two types of board. On the other hand, we also need to clarify that guests who are picked up after 12:00 hours can use the courtesy showers, store their luggage at reception and use the rest of the hotel facilities if they wish, just as it was offered to you. As for your comments about the staff, the staff service and delivery to our guests is paramount for us and we will share your comments with them. Yours sincerely, Ocean Hill

Where to start? I would not recommend!! Beds extremely hard and uncomfortable. We checked in on night room was extremely dusty. Bed sheets were changed only once in full week. Toilet, shower and sink didn't get cleaned daily, run out of soup as well. After shower all bathroom floods. No entertainment at all. Hotel is far away from the beach around 40mins walk and it is far from center as well. We had to hire car to get out from hotel, otherwise would be extremely boring. It is an adults hotel, however not for young adults or couples who wants to have time for with each other. Food wasn't great, tasteless tbh. We had coffee and juice from machines for 4 days till on the 5 day came in another staff member and was telling everybody off for having coffee a day juice from machines, if we are not allowed would of been nice to know at the beginning of the stay or they could turn juice machines off at dinner time. Most off restaurant staff were really friendly, accept one staff member. Maybe she is a supervisor or something but she was rude with guests and us including. However we were very happy with reception staff, sadly don't remember his name - he wrote a list of places to see in Gran Canaria and helped to rent a car. He is a gold for hotel. He was doing 2 evening shifts last week Tuesday and Wednesday - yound lad - can't praise him more. If you want more entertainment and not be stuck in hotel choice different one for your stay. Just not worth your money and time. If you want just sunbathing at the pool it is hotel for you. However everything is limited.

Ocean Hill was spotless and clean and well maintained and decorated. The view overlooking the ocean was excellent from the balcony and all other areas. We had a self catering apartment which was well equipped. The staff were all very friendly and pleasant. The only gripe was it took nearly an hour to check in around midnight and when you have been travelling for over 12 hours it is not what you need.Other than that we had a lovely holiday and would return.

This was our 2nd consecutive visit to Ocean Hill, our first was so impressive. The staff are fantastic, so polite and helpful, and always with a smile. The buffet food was excellent and varied everyday. It is exceptionally clean everywhere, we cannot fault Ocean Hill or any of its staff. I unreservedly recommend it!

I am currently here at Ocean Hill. If you are looking for a relaxing week, with plenty sun, and not a lot else this is the place to be. Only downside is a big hotel is being built opposite, so if the sound of workmen and machines is not your thing. I would put my trip off to 2024, when it will likely be finished. Pros. Friendly staff. Clean. Nice pools. Decent food. Nice views. Big balconies. Comfy beds. Cons: It's a bit tired here n there, not luxury, could do with a bit of finesse, to bring it to a luxury finish. Although the food was nice, quite a small selection every night, and small desert selection. You won't go hungry, but if you're looking for gourmet, this is not it. Not much to do, no entertainment, not many shops or restaurants, the ones they do have are the 'spaghetti n chips' types. Beach and mall are quite far, and the hotel has lots of steps and floors, definitely not for anyone with walking issues. Overall, a lovely relaxing holiday, lots of sun friendly staff, and chilled vibes. Would return.

We stayed at Ocean Hill the week before Easter, just prior to the hotel closing for a few weeks of refurbishment. It did get quite quiet towards the end of our stay as people went home and no more arrived, but the service standards never diminished, and it was great till the moment we left. There was never a fight for sunbeds, even when the hotel was at capacity. it was our first time in Puerto Rico, and it does have two distinct halves - 'up on the top', and 'down in the valley'. Ocean Hill, as you may gather by the name, is 'up on the top'. Some very steep streets and steps down to the bottom of the valley, but I preferred it on the top - the views are to die for and it doesn't have the claustrophobic feeling of all the hotels and apartments facing each other that 'down in the valley' has. There is the Europa centre just around the corner, which with its 1970s shopping centre charm, might not be to everyone's taste, but we really liked it in Barbacoa and Temple Bar. Check them out. The hotel is clean and minimalist, without frills, but doesn't feel cheap. We paid a little extra for a Junior Suite, and it was worth it, as the extra space was nice to have. There is no separate bedroom, it's all open plan. There is a kitchenette at the end of the living room, sofa, TV with BBC and ITV, Sky News, etc along with various foreign channels. The balcony was lovely - large L-shaped chaise longe. plus two sunloungers and an umbrella. We had Room 1117, which was right at the end of the row, against the Babalu Hotel next door, on the 11th floor. Our balcony got the sun from mid-morning until late afternoon, the neighbours, whose balcony was orientated the other way round, lost their sun by mid afternoon. Food was nice - not a wow - but nice. Fish was their speciality and this was the best thing we ate on our all inclusive plan. The culinary staff were the masters of re-invention. Some items from the previous meals were obviously being re-offered at the next one, but always in an inviting and imaginative way. We always found something to have at every sitting. Try the caramel ice cream that you serve yourself in the dining room - it's delish! We'd come back to the Ocean Hill if ever we were in Puerto Rico again, and highly recommend it to anyone going there. However, the world's a big place and we're off to somewhere new on our next trip.

Second stay at this lovely hotel from 23rd March - 30th March, first stayed October 2022, re booked due to fantastic previous stay PLUS bonus of being adults only hotel Booked bed and breakfast this stay, well worth the extra, loved the fresh omelettes made to order, can go up as many times for refill re food and drink, unlike if you have breakfast at the cafes in the Europa centre ( around 300m away) it is one serving only Booked a self catering room again with a dip pool, we were on floor 11 (previously floor 9), the bathroom looked a bit tired as had staining on the ceilings, only had a dispenser for shower gel (previous room had shampoo dispenser) , still a good shower with two attachments. They have upgraded the tv to now include BBC1. Itv which was a refreshing change from the usual cannels when away, nice to sit with a cuppa and chocolate after a day in the sun and see the weather in UK and laugh ha ha Stayed around the pools more this trip re me carrying a back injury, the large loungers to the rear of the pool were so comfy just like sitting/laying on your own sofa. Ate at the pool snack bar again which serves a good variety of food/drinks at low prices Visited the new Mogan Mall shopping centre this visit, only a five minute taxi ride away between 4 - 5 euros one way, we went to watch the fountain light show, which was enjoyable, wandered round the shops, a mixture of designer and cheaper shops, picked up quite a few bargains. We also visited the older larger shopping centre next door, loads of inside shops/stalls and eateries, found one restaurant that served and amazing paella ( forgot the name of the place), we revisited and discoverd a dish served with a "seemans" sauce, OMG tasted amazing, was served with mussels, large prawns, clams and squid, ( would love the recipe), We also had this dish again at the Torro Negro in the Europa centre (had eaten here on previous stay), again a lush dish, the staff here are fabulolus and the food fantastic. One restaurant we re visited was ciao ciao on Amadores beach for an evening meal, we had the starter of the seemans dish, prawns in hot garlic sauce, re orderd the linguine fish pasta dish we had on previous visit again amazing food, staff, was nice to sit next to the beach whilst eating The weather during our stay was as even the locals stated extremely HOT for the time of year, on two consecutive days it was over 94d, so glad I could lounge on the balcony and sit in the dip pool, weather was amazing and cooling My son booked the jeep trip around the island via the Jet2 rep at the hotel, the more testing of the trips, he thoroughly enjoyed the day, came back dusty and tired, word of advice make sure you wear sun tan lotion as jeeps are open top, wear sensible shoes not flip flops, take your own drinks due to heat, dust etc, their are stops on the trip to buy food etc as well So to end, fabulolus hotel and staff, just be mindful if you struggle with walking etc this area is NOT for you, I have seen complaints re the location of Ocean Hill on Trip Advisor where many including myself have advised re the location at the top of a very steep hill please be aware. Would like to thank all the staff especially the guys on reception who remembered we had stayed previously, great location for views, near to shops, bars in the Europa centre, doctors and pharmacy, we will be rebooking hopefully this year if not again for March 2024 Many Thanks Ocea Hill
