This is my 35th year of coming out to these apartments and still love coming. I was gutted last year when they were closed whilst the reception was being refurbished. The rooms are clean and spacious. Maid service 5 days a week and linen changed 3 times a week. Reception staff friendly and helpful. The terraces to the rooms are huge and the views are stunning. Idea for someone like myself who comes out purely for the sun and a rest. The reception area has been renovated and is very modern. Rooms have a kitchen area with toaster, microwave, fridgefreezer and cooker.terrace has sun beds, table and chairs and umbrella plus a small area to dry your washing. Lounge area has a TV. The safe in the room is included in the price as is the free WiFi. There is also a bottle of water in the fridge when you arrrive. The hotel is on the flat near to the beach with a local supermarket and Spar alway within 5 minutes walk. I can not recommend these apartments enough for any sun worshipers as they get the sun all day long.

We stayed in this apartments for a week. And we had a two room apartment on the second floor. The apartment was lovely and we enjoyed the balcony very much. The area of the apartment is secure I would say. There is a gate that opens with a key, or you have to enter though the reception area.
The rooms were decent clean; the kitchen could use a bit of an update, but was functional and we had a new fridge.
The living room and dining area are furnished in Spanish style, but the cauch is of good quality as were the beds in the sleeping room.
It is easy to get to the swimming pool, and yes you need to take two elevators, but the second one is only 50 mtrs wak from thefirst one, so no problem at all. The swimming pool area is excellent: enough sunbeds, umbrella's on demand, clean pool (we were there in February and the wather was not cold at all), and a pool bar with restaurant. We thought that the restaurant itself was a bit disapointing. But coffee and bar facilities were good.
The reception staff was very kind, as were the cleaning ladies. We got an answer to all questions that we had, and always with a smile.
There is a free safe in the room, and also a parking place is for free.
And the best: you do not need to climb the hills to get to this apartment building!!! There is a supermarket just behind the building and a nice little restaurant just beside it. Both were used by us.
We would say: yes we would go back to this apartment if we would come back to Gran Canaria!

We visited Rio Piedras as a couple in August 2023.

We hired this apartment more so as it had a kitchen and my other half is coeliac so we wanted the option to be able to cook for ourselves.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a beautiful clean and modern reception area, once we checked in (very easy, efficient and professional staff) we went to our room which was on the 8th floor. There is a lift so no worry of lugging cases up the stairs, there was a small flight of stairs towards our apartment but we were pre warned about this when booking and when we arrived.

Our apartment was extremely clean, living area, bedroom & bathroom, kitchen although tiny was sufficient with a decent sized fridge, microwave, oven, kettle & coffee pot. We were provided with a bottle of water, dishcloth/ tea towel and washing up liquid.

The best bit about our apartment was the fact it had two balconies! One smaller out the front looking onto the beach and the second, to the side of the living area, it was absolutely huge and got the sun all day we had two sun lounges, table chairs and parasol, and the best bit it was completely private.

Rooms were cleaned daily, swept, mopped and bedding/ towels changed and it was absolutely perfect for what we were after.

Pool area was very clean, plenty of sun beds and no mad rush to reserve them with a towel at 7am, which was great, there was a lifeguard/ pool man there everyday keeping an eye on things, tidying up and putting parasols up, and although the pool wasn’t huge it never felt really full or busy.

There were only a few niggles for us, I wished the kitchen was a bit better equipped, a few more items of cutlery, chopping board, extra baking tray and a few more knives would have made cooking easier. To be honest I’m sure if I had asked they would have provided, but I didn’t think at the time!

The shower was really good very powerful, but if you’re in there too long it did flood. Not all rooms have air con, ours didn’t but we had a fan which we strategically placed during the evening and day time and we kept both sets of patio doors open to create a through draft when we were in the apartment.

Reception staff were brilliant and so helpful to us during our stay, ringing for taxis on an evening and even getting us a taxi on our return home as our transfer didn’t turn up.

All in all a positive experience at Rio Piedras, location, room and facilities, definitely recommend.

We stayed here for 4 nights in Jan. on arrival the reception looked fantastic and we thought we had struck gold!! We hadn’t!!
Our room was one of 4 rooms whose front door opens out to the street so technically isn’t even part of the hotel complex. We complained to reception and asked to be moved straight away. We were told the hotel was full, which we know it wasn’t as we barely saw a soul and the pool bar staff categorically confirmed it definitely wasn’t full. So we felt very unsafe for our entire stay and never got moved. These rooms have massive security issues and the hotel have even put a cctv camera above the door!! Not very reassuring when you have come away to relax.
Of the 4 nights we did stay, our room was cleaned just once. We asked for fresh towels and this was like getting blood from a stone from the useless reception staff. They have no concern over the comfort or satisfaction of your stay.
As for the room, it’s got everything you need I guess. It’s quite clean, not super clean but very, very tired. The towels they give you are tiny and cheap, you will need 2!! The bathroom window isn’t actually a window, it’s a hole in the wall which is permanently open with no glazing so people can easily just have a good nosey in from the street and an easy entry point for the cockroaches!!
The pool is on the roof, great views as that’s 10 floors up and requires a climb of a million steps or there are 2 separate elevators to take you up. Christian the bar man is a top man, great service and a shame he isn’t running reception!! The pool is FREEZING btw!!
Only hotel I’ve been to which doesn’t have pool towels.
The location of the hotel is fantastic.
So to summarise this place could be great if they got new staff, got rid of the rooms which aren’t part of hotel complex, updated the tired rooms and basically just started giving a bit more of a damn.
100% would never return to this hotel.
Many people we met were rating the hotel next door, Hotel El Greco.

Just returned from a 10 night family holiday here. Although the location is ideal opposite the marina hotel itself is very dated and rooms need a revamp. They are spacious and most balconies are large with sun loungers although we were only allocated 2 despite being a family of 3.

The for air con was pitiful, a very old unit just in one room which was not made clear when paying extra for it.

Although we knew the third bed was a sofa bed, it really was not sufficient for a 17 year old.

Kitchen and bathroom both very dated.

Pool area was nice. It’s based on the roof terrace, has its busy moments but overall not overcrowded. On days when we struggled to get a lounger we were quickly assisted by the pool guard to find something (worth noting that the hotel does not provide pool towels).

General location is good, plenty of bars and places to eat. The main evening area known as ‘the shopping centre’ is within walking distance has your usual offerings of food and drink with very reasonable prices and huge portions. The resort is family friendly with no trouble.

Overall we got a shock at the hotel compared to the travel agent photos, did
It spoil our holiday? No, not at all. Would we stay here again? Unfortunately no, not at all.

Hi we chose this hotel over marina bay as it was closer to the shopping centre Beach about five minutes and spa shop. The cleaning staff came nearly every day. The balcony with beds is very spacious. The restaurant by pool has lovely food. Two of the best fish dishes I had in the ten day stay. We were in the top rooms Next to the pool , for us this was a good thing popping in and out of the pool. It’s fairly noisy if you want total quiet , it didn’t bother us. Two lifts up to the pool. Nice view we liked very much and now know every hotel opposite. Now I must talk of air con. We had none. We always by pass any hotels without air con ( a heat wave some years ago without ) We asked at reception about it and was told you havnt booked air con ? Well we firmly believed that we had ! After a first night unbearable sleepless night we asked to move No rooms available as they get booked up. Any way after talking to several couple who had the same grudge we realised it wasn’t just us being finicky. The advertising for rooms really does need to be changed and made clear. Booked through tui We realise the weather was abnormally hot. But that’s not the point we would not have booked without. The hotel is ideally situated for every thing. It just the air con ruined the ten days as no respite at all.

Booked this hotel for its position as it’s entrance is on lower ground level so no hills. The entrance is really quite modern and the staff are really lovely. The room was clean but very old, looks like something from the 60’s. Aircon in the bedrooms was a godsend and worked really well. Bedding clean and beds comfortable. We knew the rooms were basic but were still quite shocked at how old they were. Unfortunately the lifts broke 4 times while we were there and as I could not do the stairs because of ill health we felt trapped in our room, which was on the 10th floor. Luckily there are sun beds on the terrace which saved the day but it was still VERY disappointing and limited what we could do as we were always afraid that if we went out the lifts would no be working. Our door key’s stopped working nearly every day so my husband did the stairs at least 3 times just so we could get in to our room. We know not to keep the key cards by our phones so it wasn’t that. Another disappointment was the pool, we booked the hotel for the position and the fact it had a heated pool. The pool was FREEZING and we only saw 2 or 3 people go in during our 10 days. The pool in our usual hotel is definitely heated and this one was freezing compared to our usual hotel and I really missed dipping in and out the pool. Whilst we had a lovely holiday this is not somewhere we would book again due to the very old rooms, lift continually breaking down and freezing pool.

Just arrived back from Rio Piedras apartments in Puerto Rico, what a lovely location just behind Chester Beach Club, the beach is about 5mins walk as is the Spar supermarket.
We were on level 8 what a great spacious apartment with a stunning view of the beach etc from the balcony with own sun beds.
We didn't have air con but the fan was good in the apartment at night.
The Europa centre was a challenging walk be prepared for all the steps and steep paths, but a taxi is cheap enough to get about and regular as are buses to other places also.
Lovely walks to the harbours and surrounding areas.
Had a warm welcome on checking in but all the reception guys were great as were the cleaners.
The pool and terrace is lovely and a big shout out to the guys at Big Daddy's restaurant on the top floor, so attentive and the food is awesome.
Would not hesitate in returning to these apartments again.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Prime location to beach, bars and restaurants and a 10 minute walk to the commercial centre. The rooms were spacious with huge terraces with excellent views or the beach and marina. The rooms are very dated however cleaner's are in every day and I have to say they are kept spotless! Our room didn't offer aircon but we were provided with a free fan that did the trick and opening windows and doors alliwed the cool to circulate. The roof pool and bar/restaurant offer Happy hour 4-5pm and the staff are amazing. I would 100% recommend this hotel after trying 3 others in Puerto Rico.

We picked these apartments because of the location , very near to the beach harbour and marina. Each apartment has a lovely large terrace with views over the sea and marina. The staff were really helpful in organising a car to pick us up and checking us in swiftly.

The apartments are somewhat dated and more suitable for adults, rather than young children due to low cables etc. The fridge is a good size and the shower had been updated fairly recently although it flooded the bathroom if you needed more than a quick rinse off!

There is a restaurant on the roof which is very good with its own BBQ as well as a normal kitchen. The menu has something for everyone and the staff are excellent. We ate here most nights during our two week holiday.

Unfortunately what we didn’t realise before booking was that there is no air conditioning. This actually spoiled the holiday. It was impossible to sleep at night or to feel cool unless you left the premises. I know that some guests were sleeping on their balconies as the weather was unusually hot. That said, the apartments would still be too hot during most of the year. It’s a shame because they could be lovely with a bit more investment. We won’t return!

We just came back. Our room had 2 adults and a 6 yearold in one bedroom as sofa was used. They also have 2 bedroom apartments. We had air con but used big floor fan provided as this was more than enough. Ask for apartment on higher floor like 7, 8 or 9 facing sea.
