Good for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We stayed here last year and had an unexpected couple of days free this week so decided to give them a call. We were pleased to find that they were just reopening after lockdown and that we would be one of the first guests. It was explained that there would be no communal cooked breakfast but continental breakfast would be delivered to our room. You can choose to have this option or have the room for £5 less a night per couple. So glad we chose it, lovely little breakfast bags left outside your room every morning with your choice of breakfast, warm savoury pastries and croissants or cereal plus a fresh pint of milk and juice. They really can’t be making any money on that for £5 per couple! The rooms were as lovely as ever, thoughtfully laid out to take in the views and the comfiest beds I’ve ever stayed in. Sandy was so helpful and welcoming and I wish them every success in these difficult times. We will definitely be back!

We would like to thank Sandy and Russell for allowing us to stay in their newly refurbished An Mordros self catering holiday apartment. The apartment is spacious, warm and comfy and is located in the centre of the village, overlooking the picturesque harbour and close to all the pubs, restaurants and shops.
The apartment itself is furnished and equipped to a very high standard, with modern kitchen appliances and a vast assortment of crockery and utensils. The bedroom boasts a king size bed with wardrobe and shelves leading to a fabulous bathroom that is bigger than most people’s living room.
The ‘icing on the cake’ is the magnificent panoramic view you get from the lounge window. During the day, you see the maritime activities taking place in ‘Mounts Bay’ all made easier by the binoculars that are in the apartment. At night you look out across the harbour, a colourful display of over 3000 coloured lights, that interact with the many bars, kiosks and restaurants own lighting systems, it is really breathtaking and quite romantic.
Finally, we can fully recommend any couple looking for a break away in Cornwall, look no further than the ‘An Mordros’ in Porthleven, you won’t be disappointed.

Our stay at An Mordos was exceptional. Sandy is a great host and the welcoming touches, great. The place is modern, clean, comfortable & enjoys great views over the harbour below with lovely seating in the bay window to help you take advantage. Porthleven always has lots going on, is family friendly and has many great places to eat out - including awesome fish and chips which can be enjoyed on the nearby beach (bottle of wine optional!). The walk down to the harbour is steep but this is why the view is so good - and we enjoyed the walk to and from the bustle. Parking is on street and 9x out of 10 we were able to park directly opposite the hotel and if not, just along the road. The apartment was quiet at night, meaning sleep was easy. We would love to come back and would definitely stay here again.

Having stayed the other side of the harbour in Porthleven previously we decided to try somewhere on the opposite side this year and we were not disappointed. The suites are beautifully decorated, really spacious and have the best view in town. An Modros is the perfect location, far enough up the hill to be able to sit and watch the sunset in beautiful tranquility and close enough to the lovely pubs and restaurants in the harbour to feel like your in the centre of the action. The added bonus of the sun terrace out the front provides the ultimate spot for fish and chips at sunset. Sandy was so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and we can’t wait to go back later in the year. Would recommend to anyone wanting a great place to stay in this idyllic location. 5 stars from us!

We have just spent 4 days over Easter at this lovely place in suite 2. The suite is spacious with excellent views, the kitchen are has everything needed if you wanted to cook. The owners had left milk, butter, orange juice and breakfast items together with tea, coffee, biscuits etc. There were 4 dishwasher tablets and a small amount of washing up liquid. The bedroom was spacious with another seating area with views. The bathroom was huge, the heated towel rail and fan heater were a bonus, fluffy towels provided. Porthleven was a lovely area to stay and we were astonished by the angry seas during the storm on Thursday afternoon. We only used the car once during our stay, we walked a lot and used the bus to get to Penzance. It was so difficult to tear ourselves away to come home and we would love to return in the future

Just returned from a fabulous week with a friend at An Mordros. I’m a frequent guest but she’s never been before. I’m happy to say she found the whole experience amazing. Beautifully appointed apartment, magnificent views, and plenty of weather! We ate out x3 (Kota, the Square and Amelie) and cooked at the apartment x4. An easy to use kitchen (and we cooked from scratch) and a dishwasher 😊. I’ve already booked my next dose of weather in October and suspect my friend may do the same Thank you to Sandy and Russell for being lovely and accommodating hosts as always My Cornish happy place

A beautiful, clean apartment with stunning views over the harbour. The kitchen area provided everything we needed for a self-catering break. The owner clearly prided herself on the presentation of the apartment with close attention to detail and special care to ensure we had milk, croissant, orange juice and various drinks available on arrival. Parking outside the hotel was easy whilst it was just a few minutes’ walk to get to the harbour, pubs and shops. The kind and generous service we received made our visit very special. Porth Leven proved to be a great location for visiting the rest of the Lizard. Would I recommend An Mordros Hotel to a friend? Most definitely, particularly if you are a couple looking for a peaceful retreat in a small, friendly, hotel whose woners make customer service a priority.

Porthleven is a fabulous place to stay in Cornwall and An Modros is a very special place to stay in. We were lucky enough to be one of the first to stay in the newly renovated An Mordros. We have styed here a few times on a B&B basis and always enjoyed it, but these suites are so much better. Lovely living space with full kitchen and with a bay window looking over the sea and the port and (Suite 2) a second seating area off the bedroom with view over the harbour. There is a huge luxury shower room , lovely soft towels and even beach towels. Russell and Sandy are lovely hosts and have clearly put a lot of thought into the design and furnishing of these suites, and the result is a lovely, comfy, very well equipped suite. The welcome pack was incredibly generous, Thank you so much. Cannot wait to be back.

Just back from another wonderful stay. Huge thanks to Sandy for making us so welcome again. This is the best place to stay in Porthleven if you want amazing sea and harbour views and a short walk to some lovely restaurants. Would highly recommend for any couples wanting first class self catering accommodation.

Fabulous apartment. We stayed in number 4. You couldn’t want for a better view and Sandy made sure our stay was first class, from the stater breakfast to the beach towels. A very high standard apartment and a great base for southern Cornwall and an easy walk down to the harbour and pubs / restaurants.

Hiya, That is correct. Although in 26 years that I have been here only a couple of times has anyone had to park there. If you are staying with us and having problems then pop in and let us know, we may be able to help. Hope this helps. Sandy
