Lovely people and room. Fab breakfast too! Location great although parking a little challenging! Plenty going on in Helmsley and the surrounding area. Room was great with views over the town square. Will definitely go back

We went here so that my husband could watch rugby on sky TV. Very nice, friendly staff and landlord and cosy atmosphere. We went back for lunch as the food looked good and. It was very nice. Would definitely go back.

Having stopped here before for a special occasion it was the natural choice when I had to work in the area. I advised them I would be checking in late at 9.30pm then got delayed until 11pm. Despite the pub being empty and the fact they'd obviously been waiting for me, I was met with a warm welcome. The room... More

Stayed for a coupe of nights . Comfortable bed, clean room and some nice touches too. Tassimo machine, bottled water and the best smelling soap & shampoo! Food is nice and plentiful, good real ale and a good selection for breakfast. Staff are friendly & very accommodating . We will stay again .

We recently had a 1 night stay here with our 2 dogs. Lovely clean cosy rooms. Excellent location. Staff made us welcome and everyone friendly, including the locals. We had the 3 course meal offer. The food was excellent. We stayed on a Saturday night and they warned us that there would be karaoke on, but we didn't find it... More

Cannot fault the Royal Oak for warmth of welcome and comfort and cleanliness of the bedrooms. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order, and delicious. There are only 5 rooms, so the service feels really warm and welcoming and friendly. The owners and staff go out of their way to be helpful, and it really feels that nothing is too much... More

The staff here are some of the most helpful ever - nothing too much bother. Rooms very comfortable - perfect mattresses on beds - with new fittings, yet retaining olde worde charm of this old building which dates back hundreds of years. Breakfast excellent with plenty choice. In a town that boasts many good hotels, this is the one I... More

Really happy with my stay. The room was lovely and clean and well equipped and clean. Lots of towels and a fab tea/coffee machine. Shampoo / shower gel dispensers in the bathroom rather than individual items but not too bad as more environmentally friendly. Great breakfast. Overall extremely good value for money.
