Popped in for lunch on a windy day whilst wandering round Helmsley. Arrived during a bit of a lunch rush but plenty of seating available, bar staff very friendly and attentive. Good british pub food at a reasonable price.

My Mum (a Helmsley lass, now 84 years old) and I booked to stay for a couple of nights to visit a relative and old haunts .... unfortunately, on our first evening my Mum had a fall, leaving her in shock, shaking and feeling sick. Staff and customers couldn't have been more kind and supportive, which was so much appreciated! We returned home earlier than planned but have rebooked as this hotel is exceptional in terms of customer service and good old, down to earth, care and concern for their guests. The food is also great ... I ate my evening meal and also most of my Mum's due to her being so shaken up, and can highly recommend! Helmsley itself is beautiful also. Thank you to all connected to this establishment ... you are stars!

Basically a room above a pub - £115 was too expensive. It is not a hotel The room was basic but clean and ok. Breakfast was nice & freshly cooked. The main negative was loud live music until after midnight- it was too loud - this was mentioned in the small print but worse than expected & spoilt our trip. I’m not criticising the people who run it but wanted to stress to others how loud the music was so be prepared

Ham hock and lamb shank were both absolutely lovely. Great and very friendly service, we sat outside and were well looked after and kept dry out of the rain under the gazebo. Not the cheapest but I don't mind that for good quality.
