Stayed over for dinner. Food was great and service impeccable. The room was lovely with a very comfortable bed. Drinks beforehand in the bar and then onto the restaurant for the food - they have a tasting and al la carte - we had this and the food was gorgeous. Great place - hope to come back soon!

We stopped one night on the way to somewhere else. Very good room, everything very clean and in good repair to the point of luxury. Quality furnishings and the Molton Brown products in the bathroom are a nice touch. For a Thursday night the restaurant and bar areas were pretty busy, very good food and attentive staff who did seem...

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying together at The Black Swan. The hotel itself has very attractive décor and the food was fantastic. What set The Black Swan apart from any other hotel was the staff. Their warm and friendly attitudes and the attention to detail each member, gave us during our stay made me feel very...

We walked into Helmsley from Duncombe Park on the Saturday to find somewhere to eat. The town was jam packed with bikers all on good form. The staff of the Black Swan could not have been more attentive and friendly, and managed to squeeze nine of us in at the last minute, into the busy tea room for a full...

We are frequent visitors to Helmsley as we live relatively close to it and have stayed in other hotels very close by. The Black Swan is a unique and different hotel to the competition as it has a very classic country feel to it and an abundance of charm and character. The lounge and bar are the ideal areas to...

Three nights bed, breakfast and evening meal from the Gallery menu in early November. Beautifully furnished room (26) but view of the garden wall wasn't terribly inspiring. Fortunately we could also see the church tower, which improved matters. Bed and armchairs very comfortable but bathroom needs a re-think. Small but looked good although with oversized basin and no shelving was...

Dropped in at the Black Swan for morning coffee. Actually my wife had coffee and I had Darjeeling, which was just great! The Black Swan has a superb reputation and although this was a flying visit, the ambience, service and drinks were perfect. Wish we lived closer!

I took my wife here for a long weekend to celebrate a significant birthday and to explore nearby Rievaulx Abbey and the North Yorkshire moors. In the event the weather militated against much outdoor activity and compelled lengthy stays in the hotel. The rooms and lounges are comfortable. There is 24 hour room service and the bar is effectively open...

My wife and I recently spent a weekend at the Black Swan and it was our first trip to Helmsley and the Yorkshire area. We were blown away by the location, the staff and the amenities. This hotel represents exactly what one should be looking for if/when planning a trip to the English countryside. We booked a package that included...
