The Golden Lion is a traditional public house which fronts a multi-room hotel. Take a drink in the friendly bar and sit besides on of the two wood burning fires, especially at this time of year. The food is superb and really good value for money. Your hosts Dave and Debs will give you the warmest of welcomes and ensure...

My husband and I visited The Golden Lion for a drink and an evening meal one night last week. There was a lovely, cosy atmosphere.........roaring fires, soft lighting, VERY pleasant and VERY helpful staff who altered a meal on the menu to suit me, which was absolutely gorgeous and well presented and plenty of it, too much for me to...

The only good thing I can say is you get a lovely welcome from the friendly landlady. Other than that just terrible. Noisy room above the bar with cheap broken furniture and peeling paint. Tiny bathroom with a toilet space too small for my 6ft partner to sit down properly and a shower that was a sorry little dribble. Breakfast...

The staff were very attentive & there was a great selection of food as well as a specials menu. We had 3 courses & each was beautiful presented. We were pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived as we...

Stayed at the Golden Lion during a visit to Leyburn for the James Herriott Anniversary Dinner. Very helpful staff and although the rooms are above a busy pub it was not noisy. A delicious breakfast was included in the very reasonable price.

Arrived on spec looking for somewhere to stay for couple nights which allowed dogs. Bingo... Golden lion. £90 plus £10 for dog. Food in bar looked good so ate there, was very nice.. Rooms very clean, mattress lumpy but breakfast good. Staff friendly, plenty of dogs in and out. Obviously for dog lovers, which suits us, but no doggy smell....

We visited with friends, our rooms were very clean, decorated and furnished beautifully. Given it was a bank holiday weekend we found the management and staff to be friendly. Very reasonable tariff, homely ans welcoming pub plus a lovely breakfast. Definitely would stay again.
