We stayed at MacKenzie House B & B after finishing the Cabot Trail drive. Sandy was there to meet us when we arrived, although he had prepared an envelope for us if he was absent. He work's around the property. He was very cordial and showed us to our rooms and filled us in on anything we needed to know... More

If you are looking for an efficient stopover between Halifax and points north, this may fill the bill. It is comfortable enough and the breakfast is good, but it needs more attention to be a serious business. First, the owner is not there to greet you, which might be okay. Then, the drive is packed with a huge pick up... More

Somewhat frustrating because host was not present upon arrival but once situated we found the accommodations quite comfortable and the food excellent. Mr. MacKenzie was helpful with travel plans and was quite pleasant. I was somewhat surprised when asked for a tip at checkout. I am a generous tipper for good service generally but thought the request unwarranted. It was... More

The breakfast was very good (basic bacon, eggs and toast). The hotel is adequate but nothing special. Not very personable service either, so doesn't really feel like a bed and breakfast, but more like a hotel.

My partner and I were very pleased with this bed and breakfast. The house has a very nice exterior appearance and is very clean and tidy inside. The room we stayed in was number 5 and it was spacious, clean and fairly modern. The tv was quite small, however we are not visiting Nova Scotia to watch tv so we... More

The place is OK but has clearly seen better days. For the price I would have expected more. The service by the breakfast lady was excellent and the place was clean but seems to been neglected lately. We would have hoped for better at that price.

Even though the owners were not present when we arrived, everything was prepared and ready for us. A welcome letter was taped to the front door welcoming us and giving us directions to our room. Once we arrived in our room, we actually saw that we were in a very comfortable suite. The bed was comfortable, the layout was great... More

We stayed here one night. We are a family of 4 and we stayed in a room with 2 beds and private washroom. The room was clean. Beds were comfortable. Nice linens. TV is small, size of a laptop. Wifi was fast. Shower had good pressure but I almost got scalded. Temperature was fine for a good 10 minutes and... More

We were supposed to be staying at another B&B, but the owners did not show up for our booking. We started looking online for other acccommodations and found Mackenzie House. We were very lucky. Sandy, the owner, was welcoming and took us in later in the evening. I am not sure where we would have gone if there was no... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this bed and breakfast .We stayed a week and Sandy and Theresa were very hospitable . The location is great if you want to tour Cape Breton . The rooms were equally nice . We liked having direct access from the outside to our room. Breakfast each day was excellent.
