We spent 7 quarantine days at Jacoway Inn Carol Ann is the best host and we looked forward to seeing her at temperature checks. She is the best cook and every breakfast we had from omelette, to fish cakes, to the best baked breads and pastries was delicious. 5 stars across the board.

We enjoyed this quaint hillside inn after being anchored in Prince Rupert Bay for two months on our sailboat do to the Covid-19 hysteria. The rooms were spotless and well appointed. Our second story ‘Skylark’ room had a view of the ocean from the balcony and a most pleasant breeze throughout . There was a gazebo in the beautifully landscaped garden with a hammock for relaxing. BUT, the best part of the stay was Carol Ann’s gourmet breakfast. Delicious homemade pastries, toast, jams, salsa, and sausages. These were served alongside skillet potatoes with fresh dill from her garden, perfectly set scrambled eggs with cheddar and garden salad. The surrounding area, including Point Baptist chocolate factory (Alan is so great) and easy half-day trips to Chaudiere Pool and Spanny Falls make this a spectacular base for exploring the east side of the island.

After staying at this location and giving it an honest review, the owner had a horrible reaction to the review I gave. The property is beautiful. We originally booked this property before really planning our vacation ( my mistake and I take full responsibility for it). The following is the review I gave on the site used to make the original booking. The host did her best to accommodate our restrictive eating habits. She does advertise "vegan" on the booking website, but admitted not knowing what to cook in e mails prior to us arriving. The site is beautiful, but nowhere near anything. A car rental is essential to stay at this location. The host charged us for eating at her property for 14 nights/days, however we were not there for the entire rental. We only stayed at this property for 5 nights total. We did ask for a refund of some sort, but was told that because we had prepaid for the booking, that it was impossible for a refund. (I wasn't expecting a refund on the nights booked for the room, but a refund for the meals added to the booking would have been prudent) This property is no where near where most of what we wanted to do on the island. The noise from crickets/beetles is very annoying, and there is little to no soundproofing in this unit. (this is compared with another stay we had on the island in a very similar if not nosier area) The cooling comes from fans that circulate air (not air conditioning), which is fine, but along with the outside noise, the fan noise makes it impossible to sleep without earplugs. (even for one of us that can sleep through anything) Probably the biggest disappointment for this particular property is that there is NO hot water!!! Not in the kitchen sink, and not in the shower. I did not sign up for COLD showers for 2 weeks. This was not addressed in anyway by the host. I am actually copying and pasting the response i got from the owner from the original review. (i wish i could copy the screen shot from my phone) "Just saw your nasty and false review. You are something else! You are a liar as well as an obnoxious pushy woman who should just stay there as nothing could please you. Anyone seeing your fake review will know that you are just full of s***. Hope I never get another guest like you." Please don't stay here if you do not want to be berated after leaving honest reviews of your experience.

Beautiful welcoming guesthouse on the northeast side of Dominica! We only stayed one night, but Carol Ann set us up for a great dinner including transportation and provided one of the most delicious breakfasts I've ever eaten in her beautiful garden gazebo the next morning. She and Nicky even served garden greens and her homemade jam! Wags the dog kept me company on the swing before we ate. The upper floor we stayed in was large and comfortable for two people. We had all the amenities we needed including bottles of water and a small propane burner along with a few pots pans and dishes that we could have used to make simple meals if we'd stayed longer. Carol Ann showed us her little guest cottage that was formerly a classic little Caribbean wooden home she rescued and added a kitchen and bath. With the extra space and privacy, it would be a great place for a longer stay. Rented car would be helpful but it's not far off the main road so there are options. Great place and warm welcome!

We stayed at Jacoway Inn for a couple of nights and we loved it. Carol Ann is a great host. She is fun, always up for a good chat and very helpful. The rooms are spacious and beautiful and everything looks like she put a lot of thought into it. The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden and it is such a calm and relaxing place to hang out. Also, I am 100% sure that she offers the best breakfast in Dominica. It made us wish we could have it 3 times a day, especially after a continental breakfast odyssey.. We would definitely recommend this place!

Carol Ann has an amazing place and location. We stayed in Grace’s Cottage and loved it. Was a little old house built over 100 year ago, Carol had found it and with the help of some very hard working locals Carol moved it to her property. Once there she worked very hard at restoring the old house and building a kitchen and bathroom additions on to the house. They did an incredible job and the house looks amazing. We looked forward to waking up each day to hear the birds chirping, having coffee at our little bistro table saying good morning to Waggs, Carols little pooch, carol and Nicky worked very hard at preparing a breakfast fit for a king, was so delicious and filling it would last you almost all day. Carol has a very unique personality, is very kind, generous with her time and very helpful with introducing us to Nigel George, a very good and informative guide of Dominica, he has endless amounts of knowledge of the island, the history and a very good guide for hiking many of Dominica’s nature trails. Carol also introduced us to a few local restaurants in Calibishe that have great food and service. My wife and I would highly recommend staying with Carol Ann any time your in Dominica....you will be pleasantly surprised and well looked after while staying there. One thing to add, if your walking to Jacoway its a bit of a hike up a steep hill to get to Carols, we’ve put in a request to put a buzzer at the bottom of the hill so we can get a shuttle ride up to Jacoway haha

When you arrive the owner and the dog max will welcome you so warm, that you may feel like you are at home. And if something begins like this..in the end you will really feel like home here. It is hard to walk up the last hill from the Mainroad to Jacoway Inn but Dominica is always up and down. But up there you have a wonderful view and you will sit in an amazing garden. Out of this garden there comes every morning an awesome breakfast served with passion and made with love. The Appartement has everything you need and if you want more...just ask the owner she will help you, like us with a restaurant including a shuttle and a rental car which was brought to our place... Jacoway Inn is real Dominica and it is homemade food and a place to relax and call down. We highly recommend this place to you!!

We stayed at the Jacoway inn for 3 nights in Calibishie. The posted road signs made it easy to find despite us arriving late at night. We were greeted by the host, who was wonderful and very welcoming lady. The house we stayed in was very spacious and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The entire house was incredibly clean and the large porch was charming with beautiful views. The house even had a kettle, tea and bottled water available for guest to use. However, the absolute best thing about our stay was the breakfast! The host cooked an outstanding breakfast every morning while we enjoyed the beautiful views of the garden. The breakfast was so wonderful that most mornings, we asked for second servings. We were most impressed with the breakfast sausage and omelets the host cooked. The host was also very helpful with making recommendations for things nearby and was extremely responsive to any of our needs. We will definitely be back as this stay truly made our trip exceptional!

Following the colourful signs to this beautifully landscaped Oasis called Jacoway inn we were greeted by a wonderful Canadian lady called Carol , who welcomed us and directed us to our studio with a view ! First the gardens filled with vegetables and then the Ocean view as we broke into our rum and sat and just relaxed , we both agreed this was the best we had experienced in Dominica. We cooked some fresh fish in our fully equipped kitchen , and yes we had great water pressure with hot water later that evening for the shower ! The next morning was a breakfast prepared by Carol. A breakfast to remember ! We asked for availability same time next season. Thank you see you again .
