We had to quickly find a place to stay since the apartment we rented nearby had no electricity. We just flew in late at night and it was very hot so we needed air conditioning. It did have air conditioning that worked well. But the hotel was run down. I think there may have been bed bugs because I felt itchy and skin pinching all night. I hardly slept. The bed was against the wall and I kept running into it. There were no tissues or cups. It was a basic room. The next day we decided to go to the beach in the morning since it was supposedly a hotel on the beach. I could hear the waves crashing all night so I wanted to try out the beach. I put on my bathing suit and found out there is no beach! The water is against the rocks so couldn’t go on a beach or in the water.

I had modest expectations before arriving, but once I settled in and explored the hotel and its surroundings I was in awe with the beauty around me. For a touch of paradise at a fair price stay here! The staff provided excellent suggestions for things to do, see and eat in the area and were very knowledgeable of the area and made sure my stay was comfortable.

We were planning to stay in luquillo after a visit to the bio bay. We checked in and were told it was the beach house across street Imagine a alley (no lights) to a second floor apartment that has a kitchen and two bedrooms. One bedrooM had working air the other did not. The fact there weren’t windows (instead metal slats). Then they told us not to walk to the food stands because .5 miles at night there dangerous The rooms door was pretty flimsy and no deadbolt We just didn’t feel safe at all- and the kids weren’t going to sleep well in a hot room. So we grabbed our stuff at got the heck out of there. We told the staff we felt it was misrepresented- missing most features they were noted on site. They were more surprised than anything else. No offer to make things right - so we were out 180bucks but sunk cost I’d say. If you aren’t comfortable sleeping somewhere than the dollars don’t Matter

We stayed here for 4 nights in February prior to our cruise. It has very good reviews on Booking.com and TripAdvisor. We selected this hotel because it was reasonably priced oceanfront hotel and close to San Juan and El Yunque Rainforest. Although the hotel is not on a swimming beach, we were able to walk to Fortuna Beach and Luquillo Beach. It was convenient that Luquillo kioskos (variety of restaurants and eateries) was close. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel room was clean and the hotel was in a quiet neighborhood. We felt very safe walking around. The hotel room offered free breakfast though limited offering. The area were breakfast is served has an awesome oceanview. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We chose Luquillo because of the nice beach and food kiosks and proximity to the ferryboat to Culebra and Vieques.. We found Yunque Mar Hotel to have reasonable prices and breakfast. The hosts were amazing!! We were treated like friends instead of customers. Our room was perfect with a nice view of the ocean. We could hear the waves crashing as we slept. The bed was comfortable and we slept great. There is a nice small pool also. This is a great place if you are looking for peace and quiet but it is not far from anything you might need. We felt very safe and they had parking right across the street so our car was secure. I was very impressed with the kindness and attitude of the people who worked there!! I will definitely stay here again!

This is an older hotel in a residential area with partial ocean views from the rooms. There is a cute pool on one side and the beach is walking distance along with a large row of kiosks (bars, restaurants, shops). The breakfast and coffee are good. They have a water cooler which is great to fill up your water bottles for hiking in the rain forest. There isn't a beach at the hotel just rocks. When it rains the deck / eating area will be wet - part of the deck is under construction. We stayed three nights , the room was clean when we got there and cleaned the next day but not the third so we requested soap and fresh towels which they gave us.

Totally local spot, not amidst high rises. Hotel is literally on the beach and you can hear waves as you fall asleep. The rooms were clean and sufficient nothing fancy, with a simple breakfast of eggs and toast with coffee/juice. Loved eating right over the beach! We walked from here to Luquillo beach and kiosks easily and it was so relaxing instead of driving. The rooms don’t have great soundproofing into the hallway, we stuffed a towel at the bottom of the door and didn’t experience any problems even though it got busy the second night. Overall would totally stay here again, I feel like it’s a hidden gem in the area.

Very nice stay at this B&B. Beach was deserted everyday so we loved the privacy. Neighborhood seems a bit run down but always felt safe walking around. Location to the kiosks was great. Had 2 bedroom room with two balcony's over the ocean. Would defiantly stay again.

We enjoyed this small hotel. The whole staff was so kind and helpful. It is in an old neighborhood, but don’t let that deter you. You’ll be greeted by some roosters and loud coqui frogs, but they won’t keep you awake because the beautiful sound of waves crashing on the base of the hotel drowns our everything. This is on the water. It is old, but renovated with new tile foyer and bathrooms. Modern shower heads with great pressure. Beds were a little old, but ok. Rooms were small, but no reason to spend much time in them. Crazy not to be out enjoying the waves. Great location. Close to Yunque Rainforest and walking distance to bigger beaches and famous Luquillo Kiosks. Short drive to kayaking in Bio Bay. I’d certainly stay there again on our next trip.

We found this place by accident. It was great, very reasonable price and it was great to get a nice hot shower after a long day. Nothing fancy but a great view and nice to fall asleep listening to the ocean waves. The surf is a bit rough so not a good beach to get in to the ocean but beautiful open air balcony area to watch the ocean
