We very much enjoyed our stay, but a couple of points for anyone planning a trip: The French restaurant shows as open 6pm-11pm on the website, but it is actually still under construction. We were told it will open in November. The spa is also still under construction and will be located near the railcar rooms that are still under construction. We were told completion by the end of the year. That said, service was amazing from all staff. On one day while walking in a light rain, we encountered a front office employee who stopped to offer us her umbrella since we had none. We did not take it, of course, but just an example of the service dedication of the staff. All were attentive in all areas of the hotel. To call out by name the excellent staff, I would need the employee roster. ALL were GREAT! The menus I have posted as I could not find them online anywhere pre-stay. All of the Thai food we had was excellent. The western food was not great, but we are in Thailand after all. The sea bass on the western menu was cooked to complete dry as is normal for fish in Thailand. Hopefully they will improve their western food skills with time. They did seem to be out of many menu items often, but I suspect this will work out with time as well. We wanted to try the beef, but it was never available. We arrived on their 19th day open. It seemed we were among the first guests to arrive without a car. They were well planned for giving guests guidance for what to do with the assumption of having a private car, but nothing was prepared for guests who arrive by hired car (as most western guests will do). Again, they just opened, so I suspect they will have some pre-planned guidance in the future. The staff did their best to call and try to locate something but on short notice nothing was available. A direct link to contact hotel concierge in advance to work out such details would be helpful. The rooms are a unique design. A bit small, but they work. Be aware that if you have a pool room, the rooms above you look down into your pool from their balcony, there is no privacy. The air con's seem pre-set and nothing you do to the controls seems to alter the temperature. Our room was too hot, and after asking about it, they changed the pre-set from 26 to 20, so we went from a bit too hot to a bit too cold. Again, nothing we did to the control changed the temperature in the room. Hopefully they can get the programming changed so that guests can adjust the temperature to their preference. The resort and nature around it are absolutely beautiful. There is no need for me to post photos as it is difficult to capture the beauty all around you. Because the hotel is new and there is still a lot under construction, I am sure they will work out many of the above things in the near future. We will definitely return again, but after the resort is complete.…

This hotel is very charming in its setting…the old train station, train carriages’ guestrooms and suites, beautiful swan lake and huge landscape! A perfect escapade from our busy city lifestyle, just 2.5-3hrs from Bangkok Airport! Sandy, Danny, A and their team were amazing, their warm hospitality can top well established luxury hotels within Asia. Breakfast and dinner at Somying’s Kitchen were delicious! We stayed 3 days 2 nights and will definitely recommend for minimum 3 nights stay to explore Khao Yai and hotel instead as we didn’t get to explore the hotel spa and kids’ club.

Khao Yai Intercontinental resort offers us a warm and inviting atmosphere, the natural’s view is extremely amazing, the resort makes me feel as in the motherearth’s arms. The staffs are friendly and knowledgeable. The food is very very delicious, The last but the not least, kid Club have a lot of interesting kids toy and wide space. It’s truly a five star resort, highly recommended for a great vacation experience.

Intercontinental Khao Yai, located in the Khao Yai National Park, is about a 3 hour drive from Bangkok Airport, BKK. The hotel is built in the rainforest around the swanlake, centred around an old railway station with half of the rooms created in heritage railcars, with a garden decking for watching the sunset and an outdoor bath, although some even have a private plunge pool. The rooms at the hotel building are also in heritage railway style, and so are many of the other buildings around the hotel. There are two restaurants, one Thai which is by the outdoor pool and also is where the breakfast is served, and the other is a French, and a railcar which set the mind to the Orient Express. The next door is the whiskybar railcar, and a short walk away is the afternoon tea carriage with views over the swanlake. Between the reception, in the old station building, is a good size gym unless you fancy a run around the resort. The Spa is also located in a heritage railcar with nice and affordable prices. Whilst there are plenty of activities around the hotel, you are close to the national park with both hiking and wildlife spotting. Staff are friendly and happy to help you have an excellent stay. Throughout the years, I have been fortunate enough to indulge in Bill Bensley's creations. When I discovered his new property in Khao Yai, I made a decision to visit during my trip to Bangkok. From start to finish, the experience was absolutely incredible. As someone who has studied the history of Thailand, I was impressed by how the hotel's ambiance transported me back to the Rama V era. The check-in counter was designed to resemble a train station from that time period and I treated myself to a rail car as my lodging for the night. I was amazed by how the team transformed these rail cars from old and rusty with trees growing inside, to beautifully upcycled living spaces. One of the rail cars on the property showcases the original state of the carriage and how it was transformed. This property has an amazing story to share. If you are in need of a break from the bustle of city life, I highly recommend staying here. You are guaranteed to breathe in fresh air and feel rejuvenated. This resort is surreal! Every corner is a delightful twist to the usual hotel experience. It helps that the design concept is inspired by a fictional train station master, Somsak, so the narrative flows across all guest touch points from arrival to departure. I adored my six-night stay in the heritage rail carriage! Although the elongated train carriage differs from a typical hotel room's layout, this added to the novelty of being in this room. My carriage faced the beautiful Swan Lake, so I had the added benefit of watch the graceful swans gliding around each day. During my stay, I had the chance to experience the Back On Track: Spa. Of course, it was in a train carriage too! My therapist was Khun Ta, who is well-trained and knowledgeable. Since I stayed for seven days, I enjoyed many delicious meals at every restaurant. From the cutest Afternoon Tea experience to fine French cuisin at Poiret. Most of my meals were at Somying's Kitchen (she was Somsak's mum!), which served excellent traditional Thai signature dishes. Tip: For breakfast, order the Omelette with homemade traditional Thai sausages! This was a refreshing twist to our usual breakfast omelette! Due to the size of this resort, it would be impossible to walk around without the help of Buggies, especially in the afternoons. I'm particularly impressed by a young gentleman, name "A", who always shuttled me around the resort with a most genuine smile and sparkling eyes. It was clear that Khun A loved his job! Overally, I would highly recommend InterContinental Khao Yai to anyone in search of a whimsical escape from city life. It's worth every cent!…
