We stayed for 2 nights for our 3 day exploration of Khao Yai. The hotel is on the main road and adjacent to Palio. It's a great location for exploring the Khao Yai area. There's a large carpark which is convenient if you drive and in our case for our hired taxi that we booked for 3 days. Being here on the weekdays of the 2nd week of January, there were few guests. The room is large and comfortable. The only flaw is that water from the shower tends to pool at the floor even though the shower curtain was drawn. WiFi connection in the room and common areas was good. Breakfast was a good spread of local food, cereal and salad bar. There's an egg and wafer station. Local fruits of papaya, watermelon, honey dew melon, banana and pineapple were available daily. Staff while friendly weren't conversant with English and so were not helpful in directing us to places of interest.…
Balios Resort is a short distance from the main happenings in Khao Yai. It offers a substantial amount of land in the Thai hinterland and facilities such as a restaurant, breakfast buffet, swimming pool and attached shopping village. My stay at Balios resort was disappointing. Our initial impressions were that the property was a little naff, a little kitsch. It's themed decor of the ancient Greek equine persuasion leaves much to be desired. Our room had lichen green walls and a bed hard enough to reset your back. My partner's shower ran hot and cold, and our friends staying in the next room waded ankle-deep through the bathroom as the drain didn't work properly. The wifi is weak. The bar closes before too late, but I did manage to get myself a cocktail. Cheap, but disproportionate. The bartender was trying his best. This resort. It serves a purpose. Basic bed and breakfast. I'd like to make clear- our experience was through no fault of the service staff. It's just that the facilities of this resort are run down, and it's charm has worn off. …
What we liked: 1) Spacious room: We, a party of 3, booked a Deluxe room (that came with 1 double King sized bed) to ensure there was space to fit in an extra bed. There was still adequate space after that. 2) adequate breakfast included in the room rate (booked via Expedia) - had a good spread of local food and freshly cooked eggs. There was also a cereal station, salad station, breads and toaster, 3 kinds of fruit (banana, papaya, water melon), yoghurt. 3) the block we stayed at had a door which opened up to the Palio shopping area 4) they give 500ml of bottled water per person per day 5) fact that there was a restaurant on site. We did not eat there in the end but good to have that as an option as some accommodations do not have that facility What we thought could be improved 1) only the ground floor rooms are wheelchair accessible. No lifts or ramps to floors above 2) the air con compressor was very loud (located near our door). It took some getting used to so it affected my sleep somewhat. 3) water tended to pool on the rim of bath tub during a shower. It then flowed onto the floor, drenching the floor mat. They should fit shower screens instead 4) there was no soap dish. We had to put the bar of hand soap on the vanity top. Soapy water pooled on the vanity top as a result after we washed our hands a few times. The soap bar also tended to stick onto the vanity top. 5) They charge for bedroom slippers. We only were told when checking out. They should have indicated the fact and the price on the slippers so that guests can decide if to use them or not. 6) staff spoke minimal English. This seems to be a common issue with most accommodations in Khao Yai. So download Google translate offline version before coming 7) wifi was weak in the common areas as well as in our room 8) on some days they forgot to give us a third set of towels. On all days they only gave 2 sets of toiletries. There were only 2 bathrobes. Despite us booking the room for 3 Overall it served our purpose of being a fairly central base for going to the places in Khao Yai we were interested in eg GranMonte, Chocolate Factory, Palio Village,…
Unfortunately when i booked i made a mistake and reserved a 2rooms for 4nights from the 20th January and not 20th February. Yes my mistake! and the booking was none refundable. i have now sent 4 e mails to the hotel to try and resolve the issues over the last4 days with no response to press. The courtsey of any response would be great or an additional cost to change would be fantastic. Unfortunately the hotel remains silent to press. very disappointed
We come to celebrate our 25 years anniversary. Our team choose Balios Hotel. I’ve been here many times when they nameJuladis Hotel. The first hotel at Kaoyai. This hotel still keep Big tree and they renovated rooms and facilities very well. Room are very clean. Staff are so nice and friendly. I do recommend here.
We stayed here for two nights as we planned a cost to the Khao Yai National Park. The hotel is about a fifteen minute drive from the park. Nice facilities with a small but well designed pool. Out room was spacious and the ac worked well which is always an important consideration for me in Thailand! Staff were friendly and efficient. Recommended.
Balios is an awesome to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city(Bangkok)... Rooms are spacious enough... i love the view from my room.. 2nd & 3rd floor rooms are not wheelchair/elderly accessible (no elevators) so you wont be able to see the top view if you are one.. you also need to carry your own luggage going up.. quite a discomfort if your traveling with a huge luggage... I Will still go back to the place just because i enjoyed the view a lot.... try seeing for yourself...
We've just returned from spending 3 nights at Balios. My husband, our little boy and I had the absolute honour staying at the Balios from the 21st to the 24th of May 2018. It's a boutique hotel with an authentic Italian luxury style resort. The service from Management right down to the cleaning staff was second to none. What a huge stylish resort. Really love our room. We could not fault the room we were given as it is a nice modern style Italian fittings all in good condition. Bed was comfy and the pillows were to die for!! Bathroom superb, balcony's big decking that looked out over the overlooking swimming pool. The pool area is breathtaking with picturesque hill view, really comfy deck chairs with good size umbrellas. Only that I can't saw any staff or lifeguard on standby around the pool. Hope they will be more particular on this for the guests' safety. Breakfast was amazing along with the hospitality of the staff. The resort offers lot of choices for food and good food at that! But, considering that we're Muslim they did provided halal food as per our request. We always have cereals, fruits, and half boiled eggs, breads and honey for breakfast. It was not over expensive for a resort as far as Malaysian prices go. There is a walking distance 7Eleven, some convenience store shop-lots plus eating spots and night market just out the front of the resort. We enjoyed our stay here and would not hesitate to stay again. Will recommend this amazing hideaway place to others but be sure to book!!…
Nice and clean hotel near the northern entrance of Khao Yai National Park. Plenty of things to do within a short drive. Next door to the property is a small outdoor mall/shopping plaza and a 24 hour Tops Supermarket. Friendly staff.
Booked for three nights based on decent tripadvisor reviews. Staff were lovely, but hotel was quite dated - definitely not 4 star.. maybe 3? The towels were old and threadbare and the bed was unimaginably hard - we have lived in Asia for over 12 years so were accustomed to hard beds, but this was the hardest ever. Booked a room for 2 adults and 2 kids but were given a king room and told it would be extra for beds for the kids. When we discovered how hard the bed was we asked if they had a mattress topper or similar but no luck - they offered us ONE extra blanket to soften the bed - then said if we needed additional we would have to pay. We explained that the bed was too hard and they ended up giving us 2. On the next night we thought we would try to explain face to face and ended up with another two blankets - but the bed was still so hard that everyone woke aching the next morning (including the kids). Breakfast was ok. Would be better if there was greater turnover or if eggs etc were made fresh as almost everything was cold. My kids loved the waffle maker at breakfast though! Location is good, as long as you have your own car. Right next door to Palio which has 7-11 and a small Tops supermarket and two restaurants.…
