We stumbled onto this treasure through booking.com while searching for hotel rooms for a group of 3 adults plus pooch. Hotel Sonne has several 2-bedroom apartment units, and we were lucky enough to get one of the Our apartment was down the road from the main house, but free parking was available, and we were within walking distance of the... Make booking thinking I was booking into the hotel, turned out we were 100m down the road, and had to come to the hotel for breakfast. The shower door was broken and flooded the bathroom. The shower fell to bits when I used it. It was very noisy, as it is on a busy street. Could do with effective double... More

When we booked this place we thought we would be staying in the hotel. Our room was actually in the Gasthaus which is a separate building further down the street. Check-in was via a disembodied voice over an intercom. Our room actually had two bedrooms, clean but basic. The bathroom was also clean but basic. There was a bathtub with... More

We stayed here one night at the end of our Eight day vacation. The hotel is only 20 minutes from Frankfurt airport so we were able to have a nice breakfast and make it to FRA in time for our morning flight. The rooms are typical European size but immaculately clean. Idstein had several nice restaurants. We ate at the... More

Refreshing to find that trust still exists. Upon arrival the key was simply laid out, nobody to hand it over. There is a fridge in the hallway from which you can take a beverage. You fill it out on a form and upon departure you pay. All based on trust, love it. Clean simple rooms, basic breakfast. By the way..... More

Idstein is a nice cosy little town somewhat in the middle of Germany. Just next to the motorway 3 (E35). Ideal if one is on the way for a long journey crossing the country and not too far from the Rhein (close to its part that is included in the Unesco world heritage). There are not many sleeping accommodations in... More

Made booking knowing I was in the annexe block. Given a spotlessly clean, newly refurbished bedroom, vestibule and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and sleep was enhanced by shutters which could keep all of the light out in the morning. There was new TV/DVD player and efficient Wi-Fi. Breakfast was in the main building which is 100m meters a... More

The Gasthaus is not a good choice at all. First of all you feel like in the times of DDR, althought it's not that part of Germany. In the elevator you are really in the 1998, with the really old phone in case you would stack in it. Room is clean, but smells bed, that's why they keep all the... More

Stayed on 2 separate occassions. Parking may be a challenge, fir the remainder I was surprised by the simplicity (no frontdesk, keys with my name laid out) and tge absolute quiet in this hotel. Well actually it is more a bed and breakfast than a hotel, but for me thus works. A refrigerator in the hall where you could get... More

Convenient location (2 min from motorway), relaxing, quiet, spotlessly clean, spacious, great service and tasty breakfast - choice of hams, cheeses, pates, good selection of bread rolls plus sweet options too! Glad we found this little gem! Definitely recommended! Thank you. S&R Mati
