Our week in Alvey House was a great success. The house is kitted out with everything we needed and the owner also provided us with all information necessary. We were a group of 15 and the house is roomy enough to allow us all our our own space. The view from the front of the house is magnificent and the...

After 20plus years of visiting the area, our family stayed at Alvey House for the first time (now holiday let, self catering) last week for 7 nights. What a beautiful house in a wonderful location. My dad booked the house as it was really one of the only ones locally that we hadn't stayed in and was spacious enough to...

This is run as self catering now but has everything of the hotel it was, except the staff that is. 14 of us being family and friends and two dogs stayed here for a week. Two of the couples were celebrating their 27th and 28th wedding anniversaries. The house was lovely and clean, the sun was shining, the views are...

An ensuite room for each when we stayed. All nicely decorated & equipped with everything we needed but some of the showers were quite slow. Laundry room is in the basement which the kids thought was cool. Lovely surroundings, Wildcat number 15 resides here (part of a trail of 130 model cats to be discovered) throughout Newtonmore.

We recently stayed at Alvey House on a family holiday, and it was the perfect location. There were 6 adults and 2 young children in our party. The house provided us with ample space, and was warm, cosy and welcoming. The well equipped kitchen was great for cooking family meals in, and the dining room a lovely location to enjoy...

We stayed here for my partners gran and papas golden wedding anniversary. The house was fantastic and very accommodating for the 19 of us and even let my inlaws take their 2 dogs, which is very unusual! Having the run of the house was amazing and we all took turns at cooking and washing up, the dishwashers were very handy!...

I first stayed at Alvey House 5 years ago and wrote the very negative review shown at the end of these pages. Having learnt that Alvey House had changed hands, I joined a group of 20 cycling friends for an exclusive use weekend a few weeks ago. What a transformation in every way! Ian and Julie, the new owners couldn't...

20 of us from our bike club stayed the weekend past, Ian & Julie couldnt have done more for us, very welcoming, good food just what we needed for a weekend of cycling. Great atmosphere relaxing yet the attention to detail was fantastic, i.e getting back from a soggy day cycling to Tea Coffee and Cakes.... exceptional!

This recently redecorated B&B in the highlands was charming beyond description. Every room was tastefully decorated the views over the countryside were stunning and the hosts Julie and Ian welcoming and fun to converse with. They served us tea and cake on arrival. Located in the heart of Monarch of the Glencountry, everyone in Newtonmore was full of great stories...

My family and a couple of friends spent two nights in this quaint, comfortable, and recently refurbished B&B, just off the high street in Newtonmore. The view of the rolling hills and meadows is priceless! Ian was a very hands-on host, with a great sense of humour, who immediately made us feel very welcome and later gave us very good...
