We found ourselves here on the recommendation of two people we met on our travels around Sri Lanka and we were not disappointed. On arrival we sat on the veranda over looking the pond having welcome drinks. Our room was away from the main building and was one of 2 adjoining rooms. It was of high spec with air con...

This place is amazing, the attention to detail makes it perfect. That staff are amazing. I have found it difficult to find anything wrong with it. A little hideout with a pond that host some amazing wildlife. From mongoose to chipmunks and kingfishers and other amazing birds. The small things count for me. The present when you leave to tubes...

This place is run by a very nice and helpful couple. Very nice place to reach both Galle and Unawatuna beach. Away from the busier stretch of the beach, but walking distance anyhow if you feel like partying. Breakfast is fabulous, with various options both local and international.

Gayan and Jane are very welcoming hosts of the wonderful hotel. We liked it so much so came here once more. Dunes is cozy, clean and picturesque place surrounded with real jungle trees where a lot of animals live. We saw monkeys, squirrels, peacocks, lizards and many beautiful birds. Breakfasts are delicious. Highly recommended!

We were so impressed with this guesthouse - it is tranquil and beautiful but yet moments away from the lively Unawatuna beach. Roshan and all the other staff made us feel so at home and did everything possible to make us comfortable and welcomed. It is so peaceful having breakfast overlooking the pond with its wildlife, and so beautiful we...

A really lovely, peaceful oasis in an an increasingly hectic Unawatuna. The restaurant overlooking the pond has developed into a small but beautiful sanctuary for the local wildlife. My children loved playing on the swing.

Heaven. A grown-up yet unstuffy oasis that has absolutely nothing to prove. So close to the sand yet not beachfront means it attracts a more discerning tourist. It's true, the pond (central feature in the garden) looks so much like a waterhole that it gives the impression of being a million miles away from the coast and yet there's the...

We recently spent 3 relaxing nights at dunes. Our room had a balcony which was nice to look over the garden and the varied wildlife within it. The room itself was very clean and beautifully designed in line with the concept of the hotel. There isn't any aircon but we didn't really notice this as the room stayed cool even...
