Staff was great. I stayed 3 nights then left for a few days. Made reservation before departing and when I returned, they did not hold a room for me so I had no room. Staff let me leave travel bags while I searched town for another room. Common kitchen area not clean and gas burners for cooking a bit unsafe...

We arrived in the evening at the Santa Elena bus terminal. There are plenty of people trying to offer rooms. We decided to go with El Tucan. The same evening we arrived, the owner was upset we didn’t book the Aventura Zip Lining tour through the hostel. We gave them a chance, the best price they offered was $40. We...

The hostel seemed nice, but the owner of the hostel tried to sell his tours immediately, even before I could do the check-in. When I did not tell him my plans for the next days (I wasnt sure, what I wanted to do, but I hadnt booked anything at that point), he became suspicious and told me that I had...

When I get this hostel there was 5 people leaving, saying that this hostel is terrible because they bought a tour from other company and not from this hostel, for that reason they were kicked out, even when they alredy paid the next night. I gave this hostel an oportunitty and i stayed with them. I told the guy that...

The room was fine, pleny of covers on the bed (it gets pretty cold at night), though the bed spread could have been cleaner. It's hard to get the hot water going in the shower. The hostel owner is hilarious, but a bit intense about selling you certain tours. Free breakfast is always a plus. The burners are a bit...

As soon as I got out of the bus a guy was waiting and proposing us to stay for a good price at his hotel. He seemed nice at first sight, but once at the reception desk, only money mattered. Their main goal is to sell you (force you) to book a tour. The staff is very unfriendly! Beds are...

Disgusting beds, I suspect it was soiled with human semen... We were promised to get breakfast although we had to leave early in the morning. Unfortunetaly nothing was further from the truth. Personal for check-out in the morning was too late, almost causing us to miss our bus. Furthermore, as soon as we had a complain no one was able...

I stayed there in June 2015, and my experience was HORRIBLE. I had a private room, and in the middle of the night I realize I was being HEAVILY BITED by flees which were all over the place. There were so many that the sheets were all full of bloodstains, after I tried to kill the ones I saw. See...

We just spent one night here and had a very good experience. Our room was very clean and appeared to have been recently decorated (room #1). The staff, Monkey, was helpful and booked us onto a fantastic night tour - it's one of our Costa Rican highlights, definitely a must do. We didn't get to sample the breakfast as we...
