Great staff, cheap rooms, and very convenient for activities. I think everywhere in Monteverde will set up tours for you, but it's still nice. Very nice to get a discount at Taco Taco and have breakfast included in the price. The bed wasn't the best, and something leaked in the bathroom so the bathroom floor was a little wet most...

We stayed here for 2 nights for a quick stop to see the famous Monteverde cloud forest. The grounds are adequate and a great value for the price. My husband and I stayed in a private double room with its own bath. The BEST thing about this hostel is the staff. We spoke to three different receptionists during our stay...

This place was unreal! Clean rooms, clean bathrooms, fantastic helpful staff and a good vibe. Monteverde bus stops practically out the front and the included breakfast is some of the best tacos in Central America! Good little coffee shop 100m away and this hostel is smack bang in the middle of quirky little Santa Elena. Felt more like a German...

Good atmosphere at the pension. The staff is really nice and the common utilities are clean. The tacos restaurant next door is excellent. We had a private room badly located and quite basic but the price with breakfast included is unbeatable! And regarding the bad location of the room we can say that the noise was pretty low as people...

This is a great hostel. The rooms are basic with hot shower and clean. The staff is what really stands out about this hostel. Hazel and Diego went out of their way to plan tours we wanted. I had a problem with my computer and Diego was very helpful. They know the area very well and give unbiased opinions about...

I stayed here for 2 nights in a single room with private bathroom @ $25 per night. Very happy with experience. At least 90% of the guests are non Tico foreigners. Breakfast coupons are given for redeeming at the "Taco Taco" food stand which is next to the hotel. Clothing lines are available for drying.

These guys know it all, tours, transportation, food, whatever you need to know. The rooms are nice and clean, the wifi fast and the free taco breakfast delicious. The one thing that made us love this place though, was the people at the reception (all of them)! All their information was firsthand, they did the tours themselves, can tell you...

I spent 3 weeks travelling around Costa Rica, Panama and Nicaragua and can honestly say that this was the best hostel I stayed in the whole time. It is so friendly, there was always someone to talk to. I met so many people here and hopefully made some lifetime friends! The hostel is clean, comfortable and has great communal areas,...

When we sat down to write reviews at the end of our trip, the whole family wanted to talk about Pension Santa Elena first. The staff at the pension were amazing, they gave us great advice on what to see and do in Monteverde, and not just the touristy stuff. They know a lot about Costa Rica, not just Santa...
