The staff here really know their stuff and really do want you to have the best time possible. They are extremely knowledgeable, not only about this area but about shuttles and travelling around Costa Rica. The rooms are good for what you pay for them. Beds are comfy and have a comforter (because it gets chilly here). I would recommend...

Pension Santa Elena is THE place to stay. Everyone in the area knows them. The pension will arrange anything you want to do in the area (I highly recommend the Kinkajou night tour) and they can provide advice on what to do as well. The staff were all incredibly nice and spoke perfect English. The rooms are small, but clean,...

Easy, friendly, live up to their mission with terrific breakfast from Taco Taco next door included. 5 of us (3 middle aged sibs, one spouse & one child) stayed in a room together for one night we hadn't found a room for ahead of time & loved the setting.

Great spot in the centre of town, with reasonable rates and clean, though basic rooms. Super friendly staff who will recommend and book all activities in the area for you. Nice free breakfast - egg and potato taco and fruit - at Taco Taco next door (which has amazing tacos and burritos and you get a discount from staying at...

Great staff, cheap rooms, and very convenient for activities. I think everywhere in Monteverde will set up tours for you, but it's still nice. Very nice to get a discount at Taco Taco and have breakfast included in the price. The bed wasn't the best, and something leaked in the bathroom so the bathroom floor was a little wet most...

We stayed here for 2 nights for a quick stop to see the famous Monteverde cloud forest. The grounds are adequate and a great value for the price. My husband and I stayed in a private double room with its own bath. The BEST thing about this hostel is the staff. We spoke to three different receptionists during our stay...

This place was unreal! Clean rooms, clean bathrooms, fantastic helpful staff and a good vibe. Monteverde bus stops practically out the front and the included breakfast is some of the best tacos in Central America! Good little coffee shop 100m away and this hostel is smack bang in the middle of quirky little Santa Elena. Felt more like a German...

Good atmosphere at the pension. The staff is really nice and the common utilities are clean. The tacos restaurant next door is excellent. We had a private room badly located and quite basic but the price with breakfast included is unbeatable! And regarding the bad location of the room we can say that the noise was pretty low as people...

This is a great hostel. The rooms are basic with hot shower and clean. The staff is what really stands out about this hostel. Hazel and Diego went out of their way to plan tours we wanted. I had a problem with my computer and Diego was very helpful. They know the area very well and give unbiased opinions about...
