Was recommended this Hotel at the tourist office in Aubagne and Oh am I so glad they did so. Beautiful gardens surrounding hotel. A large pond complete with two swans, large water lilies and lots of frogs. Water comes from an underground source and it is said to be very beneficial for our health. Hotel has a lovely swimming pool which can be covered in winter and also a tennis court. At the back of hotel we saw some horses and riders so maybe one can also go horse riding whilst there. The room was very clean and airy with lots of light. Shower modern and toilet in separate room from shower which I quite liked. Breakfast is taken in the beautiful gardens were all you hear are birds and cicadas. Very relaxing and no air or light or traffic pollution. Owners are lovely and can tell you so much about history of the place and surroundings. Could not have wished for a better place to end our holiday. Having a car is almost a must as Hotel is not near any restaurants or shops and besides the nearest town Aubagne did not seem very pleasant to me.…
The Hostellerie de la Source is a peaceful place with beautiful grounds and a lovely swimming pool. All the water comes from the "source de Saint Pierre" in the grounds. No meals were available when we were there apart from breakfast, a generous buffet including fresh fruits. We hope to return soon.
I recommend this charming hotel. Great location between Marseille and Aix en Provence, beautiful grounds with swimming pool and tennis court, very friendly service and dog friendly establishment. Water is from the source inside the hotel.
This was our third trip to Provence and our third stay at the Hostellerie. It's been almost 11 years since the last stay and we found it as lovely as ever. The Hostellerie is what the French call a Relais, which means it is a hotel which was previously a historical site or building. I believe that in this case it was previously a monastery. The owners, Isabelle and her husband, live on the premises and work non-stop to make your stay pleasant. The Hostellerie is a 3 star property and still old fashioned in many ways. It exudes the charm of the area. Pool is well maintained and there is a lovely view from the pool area. There is always someone there to serve you from the bar, or provide a refreshing beverage. The grounds include a tennis court and pond with huge white swans. Much more charming than a neighboring chain hotel. A little bit of provencal paradise. Only a few miles from the charming town of Gemenos which has a tourist office as well as many restaurant choices. If we return to the area we will definitely stay there again. In it's price range it is an excellent choice.…
During a two week stay in Gemenos, we needed to spend three nights at a nearby hotel, and, luckily, chose the hotel "de la Source". The setting is magic - swans, tennis, covered swimming pool, a beautiful garden with 800 year old boxwood hedges, beneficial and ancient waters from a Roman aqueduct, and a couple who are so, so charming and thoughtful. We stayed at one of the adjacent bungalows with a private terrace. The wifi coverage does not include the bungalows, so we took our computers to the terrace by the main hotel as needed. The location is very convenient for Marseille, Cassis, and all the beauty of the locale. My son and I both loved it, and very much enjoyed learning the history of the church and the property. Hope to return soon. Book in advance, as 'the Source' has many regular guests; do read the history of the property which can be found on the desk in the rooms.…
