Very nice family run hotel near Col Du Lautaret and great hiking and skiing in the Southern Alps of France. The hotel is located near the gondola lift to La Meije in La Grave where you can get up to the glacier and hike or mountain bike. But the best experience of the stay turned out to be a fantastic... Top hotel! After a long ride over Galibier this was everything we needed. Bike storage, comfy room with mountain views, amazing dinner in the restaurant with big portions. The hotel is traditional style and very clean, and the owner was friendly. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Hotel Faranchin after the 6th Day of our cycling challenge, ride2monaco. The hotel was great, with amazing scenery all around in the beautiful Hautes-Alpes region. If you are cycling in France, it's well worth a visit. We cycled from Silverstone to Monaco, taking on the amazing Col du Lautaret after our stay at Hotel Faranchin, and... More

I was cycling across Europe in march solo so you really want three things from a hotel, a warm welcome (after talking to yourself all day) , a cosy room with very hot water and great food,I got all three here and really enjoyed my stay. Really great couple running the hotel with a nice family atmosphere it has a... More

I think the Faranchin saved our lives. After our rental car was broken into in Nice, we spent half a day waiting to get the window repaired and arrived in Villar d'Arene in the middle of a thunderstorm about an hour before sunset. We were supposed to hike into the Alps and stay in a refuge - and we were... More

I stumbled across this hotel whilst searching for a draught beer. I was so impressed with the owner Davide while having a stella artois and the hotel that I transferred from my other hotel to spend a week there. There is a large comfortable lounge with big screen TV. Reception area also comfortable, the bar although on the small side... More

We stayed for 3 nights in early September. Do not be misled by a slightly dated appearance. We found the room to be very comfortable and well-equipped (best hair dryer in the Alps!) . The staff were all very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was excellent with many choices - sets you up for a good day's walking. Take the demi-pension... More

After a long sunny day of watching the Tour de France, I got caught in the post race traffic jam and was late arriving. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed, and TAKE NOTE there is very little else near by to satisfy one's hunger! The staff took pity on me and rustled up the most delicious door stop Ham sandwich I... Sabrina and the entire staff were very helpful and delightful. We stayed here for a week in July. They willingly accommodated us - storing luggage during a time we were not staying there, driving us to a nearby town, explaining local customs and translating. Food was top notch and prepared daily from scratch by chef David - desserts to die... More

The owners of this hotel are lovely people, but they need a good kick up the trousers. At first sight the hotel looks gloomy and depressing even by French standards. Weed infested car park, old troughs full of long dead flowers - nothing welcoming or making you want to stay. The rooms are not much better, whoever chose the décor... More
