Detailed Reviews
Not a lot of choices in Castel di Sangro, but this was a place to enjoy - and recommend. The hotel was located at the top of the town with a lot of history, comfortable rooms, parking and a great view of the valley and mountains. Walking distance to the town centre. Although the reception had limited opening hours we got maps and a lot of useful advice about where to go for sightseeing and great meals. The breakfast was good and the lady responsible was really helpful, too.

Huge spacious and beautiful room with roof terrace, great à la carte breakfast (which deserves a real thumbs-up, it's one of the best I ever had - and that includes places outside of Italy - served by very friendly and helpful staff.
My motorbike was shown to a box seat right next to the entrance, and couldn't have been any safer.
The hotel already points out that the church bell rings every 15 minutes right next door. It didn't bother me and the soundproofing is very effective, but for people who sleep very lightly it could certainly become a problem.
Personally, I'm used to this, so I wouldn't mind and it wouldn't wake me.
But I thought I should mention it.

Loved this place. Combined modern amenities with the history of being an old laundromat. Very accommodating with directions amenities and service. Delightful pastries for breakfast and a water dispenser for filling your bottle.
It is at the top of the hill. Easy steps down to the center of town. It was difficult to find it at first as it is tucked in amidst the houses.
The church bells are beautiful. We did not hear them through the night with ear plugs and windows closed

The strong point is certainly the beauty of the structure with the ancient washhouses. The staff, moreover, is courteous and helpful, in fact he made himself available to accompany us from the bus station to the hotel and vice versa. However, there are many problems, in order: 1) The path of stairs and climbs to reach the hotel is quite tiring especially for people of a certain age 2) Beyond check-in times, where you see Checco and Virgil - and the very kind Federica for a couple of hours - the structure is deserted 3) The bar does not provide any use outside of breakfast 4) The water machines, placed in the lobby, mean that you have to get in and out of the room continuously even just to drink. Those who have a large family I think find it rather uncomfortable, there is not even a fridge in the room. 5) Ensuite bathroom cleaning not particularly efficient. In conclusion, this is a B&B that would like to be a hotel, ending up being neither.

Beautiful structure - super friendly helpful staff.
A stone's throw from the slopes.
Large, clean room, linen changed every day.
The only small flaw was the somewhat poor breakfast, the same cake for 3 consecutive days; , Little choice for savory dishes. If they improve the breakfast a little the structure really deserves 5 stars on trip

Beautiful structure, unempathetic staff, poor breakfast. They do not accept children under 12 years old, inconvenient if you want to reach the center on foot. I would not recommend it to older people. The most annoying thing for me was the lack of hospitality of the staff at the reception and the ants in the room.

We were searching the history of the New Zealand Secondary Expedition Force in WW2, and had booked this as a run into Cassino. This was a very old laundry.RIGHT beside the church, but thank heavens the bells ceased at 10pm! Not always the case on this trip. Perched way up on the hillside, the view over the village and the mountains were spectacular. A very modern refurbished room with excellent bed and ensuite. In the dining room, the old stone marble wash troughs are still in situ! Along with old photos of the time! The owner waited for us! That was excellent, AND set us up for dinner in the local restaurant. Next morning had breakfast laid out early for us as we had to be on the road early. WARNING - do you not let your GPS take you to the address, or you will never arrive. Communicate with the hotel and find the easy way. We ended up in very very narrow old street, that we had to reverse out of to get back to the hotel. Everything about this hotel was outstanding!!!

+1
This is a very interesting hotel. The lobby section is built around wash tubs that must have been there for hundreds of years. The women of the town used to come there to do their wash. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very nice with cappuccino included. There are several spaces to park cars. The hotel is across the street from the beautiful basilica. It is an easy walk around the town.

Our family of four had a fabulous stay at this impeccable hotel. The staff is so friendly and helpful, the breakfast was fresh and delicious, and our room was spotless (as was the whole hotel). The location is fantastic. We parked the car and walked all over town. There are many great restaurants nearby, and the staff is always ready with an excellent recommendation, and even made our dinner reservations for us. The history of the location is fantastic. I recommend you take a moment and ask about the history of the site and the extraordinary renovation that took place to create this lovely hotel.
A word about the bells. They do ring every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. Even in the winter with the windows closed, you can hear the bells. After the first night, we stopped at a local pharmacy and purchased ear plugs. We slept soundly for the rest of our stay.
Our entire family loves this hotel, and would absolutely stay here again.

I'm sorry to have to write a negative review for something that is not the hotel management's fault, but in the end, it is important for travellers to know of the issue before booking as it *severely* affects your stay. The most important thing for me in a hotel is quality of sleep and I can honestly say that after my two night stay at this property I feel wrecked! The hotel is right next to a basilica with enormous bells that ring every 15 minutes throughout the night! The first night I managed to fall asleep at 2:30 and then woke up every 15 mins until I finally gave up at 5:30. The next night I bought ear plugs at the pharmacy but my toddler, who is a DEEP sleeper, wouldn't tolerate them and was up at 4:30 in the morning saying she couldn't sleep. Truly and utterly unbearable. It is a shame given that otherwise the hotel is a nice property. Not great, but nice. Breakfast was nice, although the staff were not so friendly. My only other qualms were cleanliness (linens are great and our single bed ones were stained, floors looked a bit unclean to me), and the quality of the pillows were downright awful.
