The location is fantastic, and the rooms were clean however, the outside looks like it hasn't been painted for 40 years, the outdoor furniture is ready for the tip and there is no air-conditioning in the rooms. It was over 30 degrees last night, when I did manage to sleep, I dreamt of Paul Newman in the sweat box in...

Look, its better than sleeping outside in the rain. Almost slept in the car, but decided to risk it. Surprisingly, slept well but got up early to leave the depressing room as soon as possible. The bathroom looks like it hasn't had its lino changed, ever (even after what looks like numerous toilet/shower floods). The walls in the shower are...

This hotel is located very close to Lake Tekapo. The place is surrounded by scenic beauty and thanks to the fine weather we could have a good view of Mt. Cook This hotel cotains 72 r00ms spread in five blocks, all the blocks are of two storeys. It has one restaurant one swimming pool, no gymnasium, and one bar. the drawback...

Stayed for business...price is good but really needs tidying up. Lots of old weatherboard run down buildings at the back. Not a good look for a resort town like Tekapo. Room was very basic and old but comfortable. Lots of noise during the night from traffic on the state highway

Our room was terrible. We couldn't bring ourselves to even use the shower, the bathroom was so horrible. The whole room was desperately old fashioned, hadn't been updated for what looked like 40 years, and the electrics were frankly a bit scary. No net curtain across the front glass wall, so you had to keep the whole curtain closed (and...

This is very tired and rundown hotel in a very beautiful place. The whole place looks like it was built on the cheap back in the 1970s and nobody has bordered to maintain it since. What an embarrassment for the NZ tourism industry. The nasty shower will leave you making alternate bathing plans. Even if you chose to risk it...

A friend booked our room on-line and by the time we arrived we had little alternative but to stay in the rooms he had booked. The floor was dirty and the carpet tired and fraying. The bathroom was moldy - a heavily stained sink and the toilet cistern had black mould all over it. The shower finally produced some water,...

THE GOOD 1. Price is reasonable. 2. Front desk service is polite and friendly. 3. Location is good. THE BAD 1. Very limited hotel water to shower. 2. Water pressure is very low. 3. Room is very old. Upgrade needed. 4. Bed is too soft. 5. Heat pump is old and noisy.

We had a good view of the lake from our reasonably comfortable room which was very tired and in need of refurbishing. It seems this hotel is a throwback from the 1970's without being upgraded at all. It is overpriced for what you get although the dining area where we had a reasonable breakfast affords great views.

Room smelt musty. The bathroom was mouldy, not updated in years. TV didn't work. Overpriced. Food ok. Upgraded after some discussion. Nice lounge room with log burner. Lovely view of lake from bedroom. B and M from Ireland
