This was a fantastic Japanese Onsen experience. I'm not sure my wife and I were prepared for the structure of the onsen experience, sa this was our first, but we soon got into the rhythm of things. The Japanese onsen routine is generally: eat, soak,...More
We stayed in a traditional Japanese room for a couple of nights. The tariff includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, so is very reasonable. Service was excellent and the food was great. We tried both Japanese and Western breakfasts and each was carefully prepared...More
This ryokan is located in Yamanaka Onsen, Kaga-shi, Ishikawa Prefecture. It was the last ryokan we stayed in the recent Chubu Trip and as a result we had already got a lot of good experience and likewise raising our expectation high when we arrived.
The location and the rating of the hotel made us to give it a try.
Every thing went well, we paid extra and got a penthouse room on the top floor with private onsen. The room even came with a small rock garden and a...More

Dear staff of Kissho Yamanaka,
May I ask if your standard plan, staying in Raku room, in Dec 2015, does the standard meal include crab for dinner, or must we upgrade to the plan with crab kaiseki that is seen on japanican website?
Are the onsens on-site in Kissho Yamanaka, or must we go to the sister hotel for the onsen?

There are onsens onsite, including 2 private ones for reservation too. The sister hotel has a very nice ladies outdoor onsen (unfortunately not for the men to try out as they dont interchange).
I am only speaking from experience during our stay there. Conditions may have changed since.
