Our group stayed for one night in February 2017 and were not very impressed by this hotel. The best thing going for it was the set menu dinner (Kaiseki style) where there was a great variety of excellent dishes, including a horse crab for each guest. The buffet style breakfast was reasonable. The rooms were small and the onsen was...

This is our second stay at Abashiri Kanko. There is virtually no change (or improvement) since our last stay in 2014. Improved very very little is WiFi - stronger at times (only) at the lobby. In room WiFi is supposed to work but didn't. Hotel room is spacious but a bit old. Needs renovation. The restaurant is surprisingly good comparing...

We only stayed one night here, though if we had more time in the area, I would not hesitate to extend our stay. The room is good size (we had the Japanese room) and the onsen area was large and nice. The breakfast was quite good with mainly Japanese selections. Our room faced the lake so the view in the...

This property had a lot of potential and a long history. Unfortunately the ownership changed and the new owners rely on reputation and not much else. Walking through the place it was obvious cleanliness was a bare minimum concern. While the windows had been replaces at some point in recent history cleaning the mold on the window frames was not...

Abashiri Kanko has the potential to be a great hotel, from just good. Service is excellent (they helped us park when the lots are full, quick to deposit our luggage though we arrived late night) and always greet with a smile. Moreover, it has an expansive 2nd floor with a shopping arcade and lounge area with free coffee. The only...

We only stayed one night and arrived a little after 6pm. We read that the hotel had a restaurant and desperately just needed to sit down for dinner esp for our two year old. But the restaurant turned us away - it apparently does NOT accept WALK-INs. You must make a reservation by 4pm same day in order to dine...

Stayed here for 2 nights. Got a traditional room (tatami) facing Lake Abashiri. Spacious room with all basic amenities provided. Situated at third floor too close the road/entrance so should have asked for higher floor like 5th floor. Air circulation in room quite bad (either too hot/stuffy or too cold if I had to open the window to let the...

The room is comfortable with a good view. But do not choose this hotel if you don't drive. Very inconvenient location. There is no shuttle nor bus service after 6pm and there is no restaurant in the hotel! So if you want a dinner, you must taxi in and out which costs more than 2000 yen each way. There is...

Staying for two nights gave us time to experience the hospitality of the staff. On the way from Asahikawa to Abashiri, the JR lines were "until further notice" shutdown halfway because of a landslide. The wonderful Asahikawa station lady assisted us, by walking our group to the bus office to buy tickets till the halfway mark, where we would then...
