We've been to a number of B&B before, but this remains so far the very best under all criteria: first of all, we have fully appreciated the excellent reception of our hosts and their courtesy and flexibility (for exemple, at arrival we did not feel like going out for dinner and they arranged something for us even though it was not scheduled), the room was large and comfortable (also adapted to persons with disabilities), equipped with wifi, a small fridge (a real plus when you prefer to have a small bite near the swimming pool rather than going out every day) and an electrical kettle, the breakfast and meals were outstanding (also including gluten-free bread), the place is very easily accessible (Cluny is really close by) and has good parking places and the inner courtyard and swimming pool with fishes are absolutely charming. Definitely a place to recommend, it deserves an extra star!

We stopped here for two nights on our way down to South of France, very personable comfortable place, good breakfast and the perfect start to our holiday. Cycled some of the Green Route cycle paths from here both into Cluny and other surrounding villages. Traffic free and very relaxing way to see some of Bergundy. Lovely natural pool to cool off in and generally beautiful place to stay.

As it was Saturday night and the place does evening meals and breakfast we thought there'd be food on offer. After a ten hour drive, arriving at 7 pm, we had to drive 2miles into town to get food and drink. I didn't fancy the walk on an unlit country road without footpaths and don't drink and drive and was looking forward to a relaxing dinner with a glass or two of wine. Disappointing. We booked online and perhaps should have read all the small print on the b and b's website but one doesn't expect to have to do that. Dog friendly. Rooms are roomy and in a converted barn. Attractive but dark, only one chair ( we got one from the 'pool' -small, ' natural' with fish in it-side), no TV ( there is one in the dining area if one wants to watch with other guests). One expects such basics. Bare floors-attractive but could be cold. Well appointed bathroom. Wifi. Continental breakfast-cereal, fruit, cheese, ham, croissants, bread ( a bit limited if one is lactose or gluten intolerant). Different teas available. A bit tight with the coffee. E80 for the room and breakfast -not that cheap for France. E8 for the dog. Ok if one likes a country setting with nothing else around and is prepared to drive some distance for dinner. I wouldn't fancy a dip with the fish and algae. Nice white cows in adjoining fields.

We stayed two nights here, and were delighted with the accomodation. The room was immaculate. Breakfast was tasty and the host was always friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable compared to other places throughout our trip to France. The location is a little close to the road, causing some road noise... but really it was fine. You are close to Cluny...and what a lovely area with all the nearby activities. Stay here if you can!

We went as a trio for a weekend break in Burgundy, I have lived in the area previously, and have always wondered about La Pierre Folle. It was a wonderful stay, the owners are delightful, they gave us maps of the region, suggestions of what to do and were so accommodating and helpful. They also cooked us homemade pizzas on our final night in their pizza oven which were delicious, and great value for money. We left a couple of items behind by mistake and they were promptly posted back to us in the UK by Veronique, which was above and beyond what we expected. The place itself is beautiful and classically french, with comfortable rooms, lovely, clean bathrooms and outstanding views, with very good access to both Cluny and the surrounding area. Couldn't recommend it highly enough!
