Ignoring my humorous title here, Gasthof Schreiner is such a lovely authentic guesthouse in the rolling hills of Bayern. Quaint with an absolutely lovely staff who don't speak too much english but were happy to try and discern our very terrible german. (Thanks!). The rooms are spacious and comfortable and some have access to the most beautiful authentic terrace ever (complete with a view of the villages in the distance). The only criticism is that there isn't wifi. But perhaps that was what you were looking for anyway!

We did not stay at the hotel but lunched in their restaurant. The quality of the food is excellent, but the service was extremely slow. yes, it was a busy Sunday, but that should not be an excuse. Service was friendly, but like commercially friendly.

You will have to ask if you need a hairdryer and they will then supply one. They do not supply tea/coffee facilities. You will also have to have ,your own show gel and soap.I found this hotels bedroom and ensuite very clean. The room had a nice large balcony. We think we must have been the only English visitors they had, had.Although they did not speak English we got over the language barrier and all got by very well. The food was was very good and we could not fault it.I had to stay in bed for one day as I was not feeling very well .They made sure I had something to eat and drink and could they get a doctor for me .There is not a lot to do around this hotel etc shops .As we were on a coach holiday we went out every day sightseeing. There was a lot to see in this area .When we left they came and wave us goodbye.Would I come back to this hotel YES

We had booked the apartment belonging to the inn (family Pichler) for 10 nights. This is about a 5-minute walk from the inn - in an exposed location. There were great views, both towards the Bavarian Forest and (with good visibility) to the Alpine massif. Impressive!
The apartment is located in the basement of the house with access to the garden/terrace. It is very spacious, absolutely clean, neat inventory and offers everything you need. There is a bedroom and a sleeping area separated from the living room (2 beds each). Everything necessary available, excellent sleep quality. Furthermore parking possibility car and storage area for bicycles available.
The landlords are friendly and you feel welcome.
Since the apartment belongs to the inn there is the possibility to have breakfast there. We used and were very satisfied. Offer completely sufficient, always enough there even if you came later. Staff at the inn were very attentive.
In the village there is a tourist information (town hall), an EDEKA and Norma market with butcher/bakery shops as well as a cafe. Thursday is a weekly market with great local fruit and vegetables. A bus stop in the village (before EDEKA) where regular buses run. Use with spa card - in conjunction with identity card - free of charge. Have we used in the trips to the treetop path Neuschönau, to Lusen (forest houses get off) and to the Wildbachklamm Buchberger Leite (Freyung get off).
It was a very nice, completely relaxed holiday for us. Apartment, inn and the region we can only recommend. Thanks to everyone involved!
