A beautiful resort, so pristinely clean. There was cleaning going on morning and evening. We were lucky to have a deluxe suite which was lovely and had everything we needed (although tv didn’t work in bedroom but had a second one in lounge area where we were able to watch our Queen’s funeral). We arrived early hours because of flight delay but had a lovely greeting in reception. We were taken to our room and our cases were carried to our suite. Because of our late arrival there was food left in the fridge for us , a sandwich , cake, drink and fruit and bottle of water and bottle of wine. We were shown all our amenities and shown how things worked. The view from our balcony was of the bistro and the beautiful sea and hills. The restaurant was buffet and always had plenty of food and drinks , a different menu every night (we were there for one week). The food was good but expected more Greek cuisine. The waiting staff were very friendly and always at hand and were forever cleaning, The bistro was lovely , we had pizza one afternoon only. Lovely view from bar. The pool was lovely but we didn’t use it , as ever you have to be early to get a sun bed! We used loungers and umbrellas on the beach for first couple of days for 5euros for two of us. We then used the decking at pool bar area for rest of week and that was FREE, result! The walk to the ‘town’ is quite a trek and to be honest not worth it. We didn’t walk all the way to the main supermarket, didn’t want to go shopping anyway. If you turn left at the beach and walk you will find some lovely coves and a bar a little way up. We didn’t join in any entertainment on the resort , there were things going on but we were happy to sit on our balcony or front of bistro in the evening. We were there to relax and we did. Hints and tips. Keep your beach towels or you have to pay for clean ones. It’s quite ‘hilly’, small inclines everywhere and we had 2 flights of stairs to suite. There’s always a ‘golf cart/flintstones’ vehicle to get you around. Taxis are expensive , we were quoted 110 Euros for round trip to go 19 kms. Bus not reliable. This is a resort for relaxing only. But all in all we had a fabulous time and would highly recommend Sonia resort for a relaxing time.

Wow, I was so lucky to come across this gem of a resort. I cannot fault anything. The service was exemplary, the staff so friendly and helpful. Maria was one of the loveliest, most hard-working people I’ve ever met, she was the largest contributor to the resort feeling like one big family who welcomed you with open arms, and the rest of the staff mirrored her warmth. It’s an absolutely gorgeous location and the food was amazing. Our room was insane, with two sea views from our balcony and a luxurious spacious interior, we could not have been happier. Thank you so so much everyone, I cannot wait to return!

It’s the staff that make this place. Everyone is attentive, friendly and always willing to help out. We stayed in a junior suite which was spacious and great with the separate room for our toddler. Room and hotel modern, clean and well maintained. We had a toddler with us and the the hotel is well geared up for all ages of family. Animation team were great and mini disco was a hit. Beach is a short walk and nice, sheltered and the water stays shallow for some way out. We stayed half board as we wanted the option to visit some local tavernas for Greek cuisine. There are a few to the west of the hotel within a 15 minute walk along the road. We walked along here with stroller and no issues (no real pavements). But road wasn’t busy and drivers gave plenty space. We had breakfasts and dinners at hotel and options were plentiful and dinners changed every night we were there. One week was perfect. 2 weeks I would be looking at more excursions or car hire. But if you are happy with pool and beach with good food then it’s grand.

Dimitris is the luggage porter/groom at Sonia and he is absolutely phenomenal to say the least! He is friendly, caring, kind and professional!! I have never seen a better service in any other hotel across the world! Upon arrival Dimitris was extremely attentive, ensuring our holiday started the minute we stepped foot in the hotel. He rushed to offer us a much needed drink & ensure we had a tour of the hotel to feel as settled as possible. Over our whole two week stay, Dimitris’s attentiveness did not change, he was always willing to help & always more than happy for a conversation or to offer advice. I can hand on heart say there are not enough words to describe how wonderful this man is. I would also just like to mention Maria on reception - she has also been extremely attentive & great at offering advice to make the most of our trip! She is chatty, approachable & knowledgable regarding the local area!

If you are looking for a nice quiet holiday where you can just relax in beautiful surroundings, this is 100% the place for you. I could not fault anything about our stay. The staff were wonderful, always smiling, so welcoming and happy to help with anything. Food and drink, superb! Something for everyone (even me, snd I'm fussy!) Our room was lovely, spacious and cleaned every day for us. (Sea view rooms are stunning). A very quiet area but a short 10 minute walk from the hotel into the village and you have your usual tourist shops (with great clothes at amazing prices) and a couple of restaurants. Blue Lagoon Pirate Ship day trip is also highly recommended if you'd like a day out. Overall a fantastic trip/stay from start to finish and we will most definitely return in the near future.

Firstly, let me say that overall, we enjoyed our stay here. We were traveling with our daughter and her two children aged 10 and 7 and overall, everybody enjoyed the holiday. On the plus side the staff in the restaurant and bar were attentive and friendly, food wasn't bad, typical hotel European fayre. The animation team were enthusiastic, and the children enjoyed themselves. That was the good side. On the negative side the rooms were very small. We had booked two garden view rooms which it transpired were basic rooms on the ground floor, the garden view comprised a small patio area with a privet hedge with no privacy from people walking past. To get to the wardrobe there was only room for one person to walk sideways between the bed and kitchen unit. The photos on the web site and Jet 2 brochure bear little resemblance to the actual room. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. We were told that the village centre was a short walk away but after walking for 30 mins in 35 degrees heat, we still hadn't found it and so we gave up and returned to the hotel never to leave until our return home. Entertainment could best be described as sparse. One vocal group and one Greek night were all the dances looked the same followed by the obligatory conga type parade around the bar. We stayed on an all-inclusive basis and whilst we were never thirsty it would have been impossible to become intoxicated. The only drinks that felt like there was any alcohol in them were wine and beer. The facilities are too limited for this hotel to call itself a resort. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but would not return.

What a great little find. We travelled here with our 8y/o daughter and we all loved it. Fantastic beach with some fun snorkelling to be had. The food was genuinely really good. Particularly enjoyed the Greek themed lunches / dinners (obviously). The kids entertainment isn't too in your face, and you can get away from it at the upper bar. We did go down to the pool bar a few evenings and our daughter really enjoyed the disco and karaoke. Despite being all inclusive, we walked up to a local restaurant one evening as we fancied being served to the table. Only a 5-10 min walk if you go left out of the hotel. Very nice restaurant serving great quality Greek food. My only quibble is that there is no fresh orange juice - just dilute stuff. We would happily go back here!

Having just returned from 7 nights via Jet2 at the Sonia Resort Gerakini, Halkidiki, Greece, 7 nights half board. We would like to highlight the good and not so good points. We had read most reviews but the resort is way more isolated than you could imagine. Gerakini is a 20 minute walk but you couldn’t do it in the dark it’s too rough and pitch black, no public transport and no sure way to even get a taxi back, a handful of tavernas and a few souvenir shops we did it once in daylight. Check in was smooth and Dometrius was helpful and informative with our bags. Free safe etc. The complex is scrupulously clean, newly refurbished, everywhere, the pool is small but functional and again clean, staff are smiley and happy to help ( especially Mary who serves in the restaurants & bars). There's no doubt the views and very clean, clear sea & beach that is 100 yards from the hotel are beautiful. The in house entertainment team are young, fun and full of energy - well done to them…..for kids club stuff however We had paid for a “ Superior room” this was on the side with a glimpse of the sea, a small balcony, with a separate put you up bed as well as the double bed. My wife and I looked at each other in disbelief at the shower/ toilet & Sink configuration - no bathroom door! In effect you came out of the shower, toilet into the hall/ bedroom and the tiny doll size sink was also in the hall! obviously tight for space to try and get everything in - the downside to this was absolutely no privacy for any ablutions, no where to dry yourself coming out of the shower or get dressed/ undressed. I really could not see this working if it was friends or a family - how embarrassing! ( see pic)! Jet 2 advertised evening entertainment some professional some in house. We sat for the first 2 nights after our evening meal - absolutely no entertainment, no I music nothing, by the Thursday we did get some. Finally hooray …. Short lived “ it’s your music” …. The in house staff miming, singing, dancing in the pool area in front of a 6 foot projector screen to YouTube songs…. It was childish and terrible. Due to the location you are virtually confined to the complex. It’s too dark and far on a rough road to get to any Tavernas after daylight. predominantly German/ Austrian tourists in the hotel who played cards or dice or simply went to bed by 9pm - how boring just nothing uk do at all. We were overcome with excitement by the end of the week when we had had a singer with a couple of musicians, and on the last night a Greek night. But 2 out of 7 nights makes for a long evening and week. Food is 99% catering for European taste - we expected to have an abundance of lovely Greek cuisine. I’m not a fan of hot carrots and cauliflower with my fried eggs in a morning, however the omlettes were cooked to order and they were brilliant. The specials over the week were “ interesting” rabbit, snails & cow tongue …. Yes cow tongue. I eat all over the world and love European food and eat everything normally but “ when in Greece” I expected mousakka etc. The breakfast was the best meal of the day, although Bockwurst came at every meal along with schnitzel and pickled stuff. We were half board, however must we’re all inclusive. The snacks and drinks were a ridiculous price €15 rough bottle of the cheapest red wine,€8 house G & T, €4 Mynos beer 400ml unless you’re at the pool bar where a half of coke and half of beer cost €8 ! There is a supermarket 300 yards up there beach where we bought beer for €1.20! As there was nothing to do it cost us a fortune in the bar in a night but 3 or 3 drinks each as a couple and you’ve got a £50 bill! It’s a shame. The place is nice enough I would say a good 3 star but it needs picking up and putting near something, anything. If you want graveyard quiet with absolutely nothing uk do it anywhere to go, with Bockwurst this is the place.
