We spent one night here during a trip auround the Douro and Ttas-os-montes districts. A pleasant surpise indeed. The hostess gave us a warm welcome and was vert helpfull. The monastry has a lot of history in its walls, and we loved the athmosphere. Nice and clean, and the breakfast goes over all we have experienced so far here. Its also worth taking the 30 min. walk up to the castle, and visit the village cafe for a handvrafted beer (or more). Don’t miss this hidden secret !
I stayed at the Hospedaria do Convento for the recent Stix Camp in the region, and Fernando, Sofia and their staff were incredibly kind and sensitive to what we needed as conference members. I really appreciated how considerate they were. The breakfasts were delicious and the room was beautiful! If you're in the area, this is a great place to stay!
This place is brilliant. I stayed a couple of days on my Spain/Portugal Bike trip. It is close to the Castelo Rodrigo and brilliant biking roads. I arrived very hot from south Portugal and Nuno kept the cold beers coming!! Thank you. Therese was lovely and as it was just me I had the run of the place. Very interesting property. Food was excellent, I had breakfast both days and they were kind enough to make me an evening meal. No idea WiFi. Nuno gave me directions for a stunning bike ride on the Duero valley. Absolutely brilliant. Anytime you need a pool cleaner guys..
We spent just one night in this B&B over the summer. The hotel is located in an old convent which makes for an historic setting. The owners were very friendly, sometimes a bit pushy (we had to take a juice upon arriving, whether we wanted or not). We enjoyed the very large pool and backyard, although the pool was pretty full of dirt because they had just mowed the lawn. The Wifi was very weak and had limited bandwidth, despite the very limited number of guests (6); this is definitely something they should improve. We received a free upgrade on the room (garden view) which was nice. The room was 'historic' but lacked a fly window so we couldn't really air the room without having lots of flies get in; the owners must be aware of this because there was fly swatter in the room!). The bathroom's main light had a motion sensor with timer which was terrible when I took a bath, as you can imagine! Most power outlets were connected to lights, so you could only charge a device with the light on. The area is very quiet but we were woken up by dogs. Breakfast started only at 9am, that is was extremely late for us (we had a long day in front of us). It was served on a common dining table so we had a chance to meet the other guests. The 'buffet' was very limited but the bread was delicious, they had fresh orange juice, and the owner made some fresh eggs.…
I would echo some of the earlier reviews here on the site. My husband and I had the pleasure of staying for two evenings here. After a mistake made by us on the dates of the reservation, the owners (Nuno and Theresa) were very accommodating in finding us a (last minute) room. They could not have been nicer or more welcoming, and were helpful in suggestions for things to do; places to see. In addition, we took up Theresa's offer for a light supper of delicious homemade soup with cheese and meats. We loved it so much we did the same for our second evening. After eating out for a few weeks, it was so nice to eat at "home." It would have been nice to have a third night there, there's definitely a lot to see if you have a car available! The building and setting is lovely, and had it been hot (it was not) we would definitely have taken advantage of the beautiful pool.…
