We were at Menorca Experimental for 1 week in October 2022, it is a nice and a little remote place, design is trendy, cosy, food is great. It is over-priced for what it is. It is part of a French group, something we had not really thought, expecting a more local experience. We had a little house with its own pool, that was unfortunately unheated and quity icy at this time of year - refreshing for sure ;-). Our little house, as beautiful and cosy as it was, had a humidity problem, which wasn't great. The garden and house provided little privacy. Little anecdote: The house had a coffee machine, with free capsules, unfortunately no milk (we need some milk with coffee sorry), no problem I phoned reception, they brought us 100 ml of milk... with a bill for 5 EURs. Little oversight probably, but well at the exorbitant price tag of the place it was a pity. We liked overall, it was just not up to the level we paid for. Bit far from everything too.…

Beautiful grounds and rooms. The food prepared at the hotel is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. One can hike all the way down to the sea from an adjacent trail We had a great time. There was however an issue with the overwhelming number of flies outdoors.

I cannot begin to say what an amazing experience it was to stay at Menorca Experimental for 4 days. From the moment I arrived, as a solo traveller, I was welcomed by everyone with such warmth. The attention to detail in all aspects of design, food, atmosphere, staff was incredible. I want to particularly thank Emmanuelle with whom I was in email contact with prior to my visit and Ermina who went beyond her remit to help me plan my timetable to maximise my time in Menorca. Also I wanted to thank Nicole with whom I had lovely chats with on my last day. There is a gorgeous energy and warmth to the staff that goes beyond the usual hotel experience. I loved the buzzy atmosphere particularly at night with the incredible food and great tunes and even nicer cocktails! I can’t wait to return another time. We had 8 incredibly spoiling nights at Menorca Experimental. The attention to detail at this hotel is outstanding. The sensitive renovation of the old finca has led to stunning spaces with a beautiful aesthetic: rustic chic, creative, interesting. The pool area is heaven, with great tunes to chill out to during the day. The grounds are stunning, with incredible walks on the doorstep. The restaurant sends out outstanding food: by far the best meals we had anywhere in Menorca. What really sets this establishment apart is the service delivered by every single member of staff: restaurant, spa, cleaners and reception. Highly personal service but relaxed, all with a chilled out funky vibe. Nothing was ever too much trouble, super friendly (not to mention super patient and polite with my attempts to practice my beginner Spanish). We felt pampered & indulged the entire time. This hotel truly feels like a hidden gem. In terms of style and quality it comes close to hotels like Six Senses. When arriving at the gates you already feel you are entering a small sanctuary. The boutique style is perfect for a couple days of relaxing in nature, the spa is cozy but very well designed. The only remarks I have are that the general view from the pool could be improved with some nicer landscaping and that the breakfast has limited options for vegans, gluten-free or people who would prefer a lighter breakfast. For those there is truly only fruit as an option.

Stayed 3 nights part of a small group of world travellers. Best part of experience was departing! Food, lunch dinner is sharing Tapas, limited menu, worse tapas I’ve eaten, service almost none existent, server communications poor (lack of English), little menu flexibility. Hotel in a remote region, alternate restaurants required travel to Mahon or elsewhere. Rooms are spartan, certainly not worth €340 euros per night. Recommend avoid.

Regarding the food options, we apologize if our Restaurant Mediterranean concept of "sharing tapas" and the set negotiated menu for your group was limited for you, we will let you know to our kitchen team and your group organizer. According to your spartan room, we take good note that your 22m2 room with 7 m2 of upper terrace with nice views didn't meet your expectations, and for a possible future occasion, we will offer you the next room categories with bigger living space. In relation to our location, part of the experience of an agrotourism hotel is the quietness and relaxation enjoying the countryside, slightly far from bigger cities (10 minutes from Alayor, 25 from Mahón), we are sorry to read that our location and countryside concept didn't match with your more urban lively concept for your holidays. Got to be one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. A combination of a beautifully resorted Menorcan grand finca, with funky and creative design. Set in stunning grounds, beautifully landscaped with an awesome large infinity pool, it makes the ideal place to chillout for a few days. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite with large terrace on the 1st floor overlooking the gardens, with the most comfortable bed ever. The staff were delightful - from the friendly welcome on our arrival to all the restaurant staff - nothing was too much trouble. With most of the guests and staff being French, it really was a little piece of hip Paris in the heart of the Menorcan countryside. The food in the restaurant was superb - from the best ever croissants for breakfast through to the inventive and delicious small plates for lunch and dinner. Location wise being in the centre of the island it was easy to get to both of the main towns and a short drive from some of the best beaches in the Med. Cannot highly recommend The Experimental enough - will definately be back!…

Hotel is falsely advertised. Does not offer relaxing experience. Rooms in suites smells of sewage. They use heavy perfume to mask this. Repeated and consistent issue in suites. If you're allocated rooms above reception, prepare youself for a poor night sleep. Breakfast service is slow. Had to move rooms every night due to issues with rooms. If you're looking for a boutique hotel, look elsewhere. More similar to a poorly run resort than "bohemian luxury". They invest heavily on marketing. This is far from reality. Typical example of a hotel that has very little experience and know-how in basic hospitality in the hotel industry. There are other much better boutique hotel options on the island.

We were looking forward to your comment as you advised that you would do during your check out. Of course, for the whole team it was also really surprising that in every room where you were placed, there was an issue to request another room change. All our staff acted quickly and efficiently on each occasion and offered you an immediate solution that solved your demands. I am sorry that we did not reach an understanding and that despite moving you from a standard room to a Suite, the discount for the third person during the whole stay, and giving you an extra room for the third person for two nights free of charge, these were not sufficient gestures of compensation for you and that you have finally left this comment as you threatened. We love to take care of our guests, and we are proud of our accountability offering always a fair response from our side if there is an unpleasant situation, on the other side we must stand up to disproportionate demands. Please note that the services you did report are not usual and not indicative of the high quality and service standards the Menorca Experimental prides itself in providing our guests with. We genuinely do not like to leave negative reviews, as there is no opportunity in our line of work to give feedback on a public forum, so it does not really feel fair for us to do so to others. However, we left Menorca Experimental very underwhelmed, given that we paid a little over 800 euros a night for our room, with the total bill exceeding 1000 euros per day on average. Hence, on this occasion we are making an exception. To start with the positive points, the quality of the food and the Spa were both excellent, as in general were the rooms. There is still the occasional sewerage issue mentioned in earlier reviews, but it only persisted for 10 minutes or so each time. Not ideal, but the location is very remote. It is clear that Menorca Experimental has benefitted from significant investment by the owners. However, we echo the similar comments here that the hotel is not the more typical Agroturismo hotel we had expected from the website. It is in fact a resort of 44 rooms, far larger than any other Agroturismo hotel we have stayed at to-date on the island. Unfortunately, this meant we did not get that personal touch as, from what we could tell, the staff were not from Menorca. Without exception they were all friendly, but clearly inexperienced from a hospitality perspective. Breakfast was adequate, but below the level reasonably expected for a hotel of this standard. For us it was a real shame that they did not routinely offer the local ensaimada pastries. Given that the majority of the guests are French, we understand that there is a requirement for croissants and pains au chocolat, but this should not be at the expense of those wanting to eat ‘a la Menorquina’. When asked why there were none at breakfast, the polite server shyly admitted to not knowing what they actually were. After repeated requests, we were granted our wish during the final morning of our stay. This was genuinely appreciated, but in reality it should not have been this difficult. Also, availability in general was a bit hit and miss. We were quite bemused that a Mediterranean Agroturismo hotel had ran out of tomatoes one morning, but there were plenty of avocados available… Dinner was a hectic affair. It is emphasised that you need to reserve tables in advance, which we did, but the timings were inconvenient. Effectively you can only reserve per sitting, which means that tables are available either from 19:00 to 19:30 or 22:00 to 22:30. It was simply impossible to book between 20:30-21:30 which, when paying such prices for both the food and room, is not really acceptable. Also, as commented in some of the French reviews, whilst friendly service was chaotic. We asked for some dishes to be served as starters, but the tapenade and bread arrived 25 minutes after all our other dishes. When questioned, we were told that this was simply the rhythm of the kitchen. Again, you just don’t expect this at a hotel charging the same rate as the Savoy or Claridges. We also took lunch at the pool one day without reservation. We could see that there were tables free, but it took 3-4 minutes of prolonged negotiation to get one. It was a similar story at the Spa, we attempted to book on the day of our arrival, but could only get a slot for the evening of our final day. It should not have been this difficult. The sizing of the Spa should reflect the infrastructure of the resort. To confirm, the treatment we received was excellent. Perhaps our most frustrating moment was when my wife was 5-10 minutes late ordering a single packed lunch for our boat trip the following day. The deadline was 18:00, which was stated in the room documentation that we had unfortunately not read. When we returned together to reception to explain that it did not seem logical to us that, with 15 hours notice, the kitchen could not prepare a sandwich, a slice of cake and a bottle of water, we just met a brick wall and left disappointed. Again, we simply expect better at this price point and repeatedly explained as such, but sadly to no avail. In the end, we had to drive to a supermarket to buy some bread and jamón, a round trip of about 45 minutes. As a final note, we were routinely greeted by staff in French. My wife is Spanish, but we both lived in France so speak the lingo. However, we prefer to be addressed in Spanish when on home soil. It’s a little detail perhaps, but an important one nonetheless. Did we enjoy our stay? Yes, but mainly because we know and love the island and have friends there. To put things into perspective, two years ago we stayed half-board on an idyllic private motu in French Polynesia with a slightly lower room rate, so we were really expecting much more. Sadly, at Menorca Experimental it seems the guests are required to fit in around the requirements of the hotel whereas, within reason of course, it should be the other way round. We spent our last two nights on the island at Can Faustino, which only served to confirm the extent to which Menorca Experimental is currently failing in terms of customer service.…
