Two nights stay as a couple in the low season. We had a lovely time. The room is very spacious, well decorated with a good feeling for details. At arrival lovely little soaps on the towels. Luxury coffee (Dolce Gusto) and good cooking facilities in the room. Good location for all your Texel adventures. Very friendly staff. We got the breakfast delivered to the room. Lovely breakfast with a lot of choice.
We rented Landhuis A for a midweek which is the one on the street/herberg side. The house is nicely decorated, light, modern, clean. However, they used too much Ikea. The herberg has a parking at the back which is very convenient as you cannot park anywhere on Texel without a license. However there were a few pointers: - Master bedroom is upstairs together with another bedroom plus bathroom (small one, the big master bathroom is downstairs with the other 2 smaller bedrooms). The master bedroom is huge but the bed/pillows are placed under a slanted wall hence you keep bumping your head. - Bedroom curtains are black-out but they are all too small so light keeps streaming in - Bathroom has a shower curtain which a find an un-clean and cheap option if you are renting out a nice house - Terrace outside has 2 tables and 8 chairs however they don't fit on the wooden terrace, the terrace is too small which means one side of the table has to sit on the grass or lower terrace which is weird. Or you have to take the table to the grass altogether but that means no cover anymore which can be inconvenient in a rainy country like the Netherlands. There is a small terrace heater though! - Open kitchen in the living room is extremely small, only fits one person and there is no room to store anything. You have to put everything on the fridge which looks cluttered. - There is also no room for the kettle, coffee maker and toaster so I put them on the windowsill. They are wide enough and thankfully there are a lot of sockets in the living. - No oven but there is a microwave - Good news is there is a laundry machine, laundry powder and a dry rack on the top floor. - Fabric chairs around the dining table are already stained - wifi is superslow or non-existent at all. We were better off going to one of the beachrestaurants Location is really good as you are 2 min walking distance from the supermarket, 2 min from the bicycle rental and in the middle of De Cocksdorp. Since nothing ever happens in this village, it is super quiet. Except for the church which rings and bells its way through day and night. We enjoyed our stay here but would prefer the Landal extra luxe house which we had the year before.…
In the centre of De Cocksdorp and very hand for all the restaurants and not far from the beaches and the iconic lighthouse. A well equipped apartment which I hardly got to use due to staying only the one night.
Returning here after 4 years we found our accommodation perfectly fitting our needs as we'ed remembered. Slightly off season de cocksdorp is an exceptionally tranquil part of the world. With no- one to share it with except other nature lovers and nature itself. We enjoyed cycling daily to other townlets and beaches, returning nicely tired for full nights of sleep on comfy beds. Lovely sunrises and sets to experience with breakfast and afternoon tea. Went for a fantastic guided bird cycle with a guide from the Vogel information centre 2 mins from herberg, Vogel centrum even lent me some veerekykers/ binocs ..although a state of he art telescope was used on the tour and it was the best bird watching experience I have ever had...so informative. We had a mirror of cheapest range apartment to our previous booking and it was just as practically designed. Well lit. Just a hob in kitchen bedsit but with all the utensils etc you need. Commodious Fridge and Mini plus Supermarket Virtually next door , which does take uk credit cards , to fill it with local artisan as well as mass produced products and it is never hectic. Wifi is fast and easy , bbc1 and 2 as well as the usual 24 hr English news channels and nederlandse TV ook. Shower is good. Bathroom mirror has insert face mirror...all practical details are well thought out. Framed map on lounge wall. Although the apartments are very small you do not feel this, as they only have the items you need in them. Lots of restaurants around the island to eat at. Best we found was oranjerie at de koog and Catherine's hoeve just out of den burg. Xing to the island via teso line is also a joy...the service is quick ( took us 8 mins on way back) frequent, reliable , cheap and modern ...grub on board is tasty and economically priced also. We x'ed both ways at lunchtime and it fed us for under ate near incl. drinks!! At the kiosk you can pay by credit card for tickets....unusual in holland. We'll be back, I hope.…
