More then 80 years of hospitality combined in a tasteful, comfortable and contemporary hotel with a beautiful restaurant. There is something to do for everyone, there is room to relax, exercise and play, all in walking distance of the beach and the village. A holiday villa nestled in the dunes. Light and airy, without any unnecessary hotel furniture, air-conditioned, beautiful fabrics, comfortable beds and a mini fridge. Slide open the curtains for a view over the island and the dunes. Make a Nespresso, open the windows and slowly wake up. Opduin has 6 different possibilities to choose from. Double rooms with a king size bed, large suites with an extra sleeping couch, apartments with separate bed rooms, a holiday house for a big family, holiday homes for a small family and even six small single rooms. On the edge of the Texel dunes we built our Opduin restaurant. A tasteful and light living room, without formal hotel linen, but with luxurious Rosenthal dishes.

My wife got a positive covid test result, we got checked to make sure it was safe for us to travel, I called them in the morning, and they told me I had to go through booking.com. so I called them, and hotel refused to cancel both nights. Very poor service I think in these times. Its busy at this hotel, they can fill this spot . We also didn't need to get tested, could have just shown up. So if that is indicative of the service at the hotel, I would never ever go or stay there. I asked for a credit to use another time instead, so the hotel wouldn'tose money. Nope also denied.

I stayed at Grand Hotel Opduin for one night for €163. I chose the hotel as it seemed nice on Booking.com. To my surprise I found the staff not very friendly or welcoming and their English let them down from the start. (The staff at the Jumbo supermarket can probably teach them a thing or two about friendliness.) After a night in your shoe box room, you have to pick up your breakfast in a bag that you can only take to your room to go and eat. You will pay extra if you would like a miniature sized cupochino. I therefore ended up standing eating breakfast on my window sill as there's no other place you're allowed to eat. Halfway through "breakfast" I decided to just leave as I could no longer stand the box they call a room. It's claustrophobic! I have travelled extensively around the world for the last 17+ years and can comfortably say this is one of the most underwhelming experience I've had at a Hotel, especially a "4 Star" Hotel. Next time I visit Texel island I'll stay somewhere else as I feel this hotel is not value for money or even enjoyable on any level. Other notes: - Completely outdated TV - Extremely small room - Old looking bathroom - No Toiletpapier, only tissues - Dog poop in front of main entrance - Dog pillow taking up half the free floor space in room. I don't have a dog. - Staff making no effort whatsoever to make anything enjoyable. Buying a hamburger at McDonald's is more fun. This review might seem a bit harsh but I feel that some effort need to be made by Hotel staff to try and be helpful to customers especially when it's obvious that they are not from the same area, or even the same country. If you don't want foreigners to visit your establishment or cannot cater for them, kindly say so and we'll take our money elsewhere.

Thank you for your review. While reading it, I honestly think that you made the wrong choice. Firstly, by travelling in times of Corona, with all the Government measurements in place. Breakfast and any beverages can only be served by us in a take away container and via a pick up point. And have to be eaten in the room. There is no charge for cappucino during breakfast hours. And secondly, in your room choice. You booked the cheapest and smallest room in the hotel, which indeed does not have a table. As you can also see in the description and on the photo's of Booking.com. The size of the room is also clearly stated here. I understand your dissappointment in realizing this. We would have happily moved you to a bigger room with a dining table for a small surcharge.

We booked an extremely expensive last minute three day arrangement including Golf at Texelse. The room was large, modern and super clean. The dinner service was far more than diabolical. We waited 10 minutes before getting a table, then were seated by the bar where the staff collected the guest’s drinks. We asked for another table, the waitress replied rudely that she had no time to dress our table. We took glasses, cutlery along with everything and did it ourselves. Then it was a wait of 30 minutes between each course. Then they brought the wrong main course out for my husband. I finished before his main course arrived. Although I will add the food When it came was very good. The service is mainly by very young people who will stretch out over the guest to place whatever they need to instead of walking round. We salvaged the evening by drinking lots of wine. 😊 Breakfast was nice, service almost 100% better. The arrangement did not include second days dinner, BUT we were told by reception the restaurant was full but can eat in the conservatory....... We showed our disappointment and they immediately found a table in the restaurant for us. First time to Texel, will I come again, no the quality of service is very lacking in many ways.

A very decent hotel experience this is. Everything from arrival, hotel room, the friendliness of every member of staff has been great so far. We really feel being looked after. The breakfast choice is absolutely amazing, great coffee and lovely atmosphere. Everything is very clean and desinfection policies seem very strict and being adhered to. The only very tiny thing missing would be some cream cheese at breakfast but that's a 'luxury point of criticism'. I'd always stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting texel. Lunch options are loveley also for GF. Location is absolutely fab too. Behind the dunes, national park. Nature. Quietness absolutely amazing

Our first time on Texel and we were very pleased with the choice that we made regarding the hotel. Our room was on the third floor with a great view across the dunes to the sea and the woods at the side of the hotel. The room was very spacious and very comfortable with a large bed which was also extremely comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and given all the current restrictions they made sure that everyone felt at ease and relaxed. Excellent service in all areas and in particular the breakfasts. The public areas are all very comfortable which we used a lot due to heavy rain on a couple of days. We also had our dog with us and although many hotels say that they welcome dogs Hotel Opduin genuinely does make an effort which would explain why so many guests had dogs with them. All very well behaved and respecting the other guests too.
