With travel being restricted over the past 20 months, this was my first visit since December 2019. I know many hotels have used Covid as an excuse to reduce service and standards and I was hoping this wasn’t the case for my recent visit. I need not have worried as on my arrival, the girl on reception was excellent and sorted out a slight problem that was resolved satisfactorily. The room was sealed and as clean as they have always been. My Honors membership was again recognised with a welcome letter, bottles of water in the room and drink vouchers which I always use to accompany a meal in the restaurant. Checkout was a breeze and due to the close proximity to the terminal, we were through security in minutes after check out. Using the Doubletree is a great relaxing way to start your trip and it was pleasing to see standards have been maintained through a very difficult period for hospitality.

This should have been a five star review. Great reception staff, really warm welcome, excellent and clean room which was sealed after having been cleaned, very comfy bed. However, we were staying for one night due to a really early flight next morning. We enquired if it would be possible to pay to park in the hotel car park for the week. As it was not possible, we arranged to park in the airport long stay carpark. My husband dropped me off at the hotel car park barrier with our luggage - a stay of 45 seconds approx. When we returned home we had a fine of £100. A fine way to treat your customers. The 2 stars are for the positives listed above. Your staff at least are great on customer care.

Over night stopover before holiday flight, good food and the usually Quality rooms, staff were very helpfully but found bar prices a bit high for me, got a great deal ( room and long stay parking included) hotel located within walking distance of terminal.

It's handy for early leaving or late arriving flights. A few minutes walk from the airport. But I arrived, pretty tired, around 11pm and found the reception adjacent to a bar occupied by some pretty loud drunk guests. That's not a good first impression. I could barely hear the receptionist. The room was fine, comfy bed, shower, the usual teas and coffees. Breakfast was a bit of shambles. I was very hungry and while it didn't look particularly appetising, watery scrambled eggs, rubbery looking bacon, mushrooms sweating under a cloche, it seemed preferable to Greggs in the airport. There was no bread to be toasted, no sign of tea and coffee, despite me and other quests asking for them. One poor women was holding a bowl of cereal forlornly looking for the milk. I think the very young, very inexperienced staff need a manager on hand. I would imagine breakfast is pretty lucrative for hotels so best not to make stramash out of it. I won't be back, but then I won't need to be.
