Stayed one night on a jaunt up North, selected as dog-friendly. A warm welcome, staff very friendly and helpful. The room could do with a bit of TLC, ceiling showing evidence of quite a bit of damp ingress, and not the nicest bathroom - but comfortable for a night. Bar was full of locals (good sign), nice beer and nice food. Breakfast was first class, and we'd recommend the porridge!
We ve been coming up for several years now so disappointed generally. Could be so much better staff generally pleasant. Tried to book a table for the evening being told they weren't busy . My children have autism and struggle to not know what going on. Stood at the bar for a while waiting for table eventually shown to table. Took 2 and half hours to order and be served. Kids meals were hot dogs which were not great just took too long. Overpriced and not great I think our southern accents were not welcome. Won't be returning
This is a very good value for money hotel. My room was in the Guest House, next door to the main hotel. I had a private bathroom, with toilet and shower, across the hall. This falls into the quaint, slightly old-fashioned category, and suited me very well. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, bathrobe was provided. The food was excellent, including the lovely, large, cooked to order breakfast.
The location of this hotel is excellent, we didn’t want to stay in Inverness and this was a great choice. Parking is included and is behind the hotel (on the north side – south side is only for motorcycles which we found out by accident haha). Our room was at the top of a flight of stairs, size was good and bathroom was fairly modern. The main room was a bit dated but hey, these are old buildings so we expect some atmosphere. Unfortunately, because it’s an old building that means the walls are very thin and we heard people coming & going until late at night, and starting again early in the morning. The sleep we did get was excellent, the bed was very comfortable! Breakfast was good and all food is locally sourced. Every staff member we encountered was helpful and friendly.
Really friendly helpful staff, comfortable clean room, breakfast freshly cooked and really tasty, first class meal’s . already booked for next year.you won’t be disappointed staying here . Beautiful area with lots to do and explore thanks cairn for a great stay.
Went for a meal this evening and the food was great. We both had the steak and ale pie. I’m really fussy because I hate fat on my meat but there wasn’t a single piece of fat. It was so tender and tasty. The veg was cooked to perfection, no mush. The young lad who served us had a tremendous personality and was very comfortable talking to customers which is very rare in someone so young. Great evening and would thoroughly recommend it.
Great place. Very friendly and accommodating even when I arrived a little late. Fantastic sleep on a goid mattress and a very good breakfast. Recommended spot fir the beautiful Caingorms. I found the bothy thank you!
We only ate in the pub, but it’s very nice. There’s a nice friendly atmosphere and it was good for gluten free. The service was good. I enjoyed the Halloumi cakes, the fish and chips is HUGE. Really recommend
Enjoyed an excellent dinner with the family at this hotel bar/restaurant this evening. Excellent and friendly service, amazing mains (especially the haggis lasagne) and even better desserts, all homemade and just so delicious. Had the Loch Logan’s brewery Bonnie and Blondie which was fabulous. And finally, all relatively good value. Highly recommend.
The Cairn is a family-run hotel and the welcome, service and everything on top of that is first class: the rooms are clean and a good night's sleep is assured and a good breakfast awaits you in the morning. The staff are super-helpful and if you are into your whiskies the bar has a good selection...... full marks all round - I will be back!
