The hotel is in a very pleasant location surrounded by nature. Site well kept. Access challenging up hill. Maybe challenging in raining days. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room was small a little rundown. Very old TV with few channels and terrible image. Minibar equally old and rusty. A disappointment considering the rate charged for it.
Very nice place in Araras for a group meeting or a family weekend. Location is just beautiful, with amazing views and extraordinary landscape. Facilities are rustic and comfortable, although they could use a bit of an upgrade. Restaurant is good, with tasty and varied food and lots of places to sit and enjoy the view. Rooms are ample and nice, bungalow style, taking advantage of the nature.
My wife and I stayed in Pousada das Araras during a weekend. We arrived Friday evening and left Sunday after lunch. We chose a chalet far from the reception which is a short distance however enough to feel isolated. The accommodation is large, rustic, comfortable and spacious. It is located on the bottom of a huge rock with a forest on the back, having a breathtaking sight of the mountain. Breakfast is rich and plentiful, already included in the tariff. Staff is very friendly and attentive. It is our second time and for sure we will return. Pleasant staying.
Pousada das Araras has been a charming destination for couples and even families for decades now. Exuberant landscaping, nice gardens and creeks, warm chalets and decoration, incredible quietness. It's all there, and it looks even better than years ago. Unfortunately, given the value of their rates, service, breakfast, amenities and other details should be reviewed - and increased!. The (small) amount of firewood provided is ridiculous; the 11am breakfast time limit is too early for a place like this, so that at 10:50am ALL the tables are usually taken; the old tubed TV set belongs to the 20th century, and the cable channels' options are so limited that often you have nothing interesting to watch; front desk staff should be much more pleasant and willing to fulfill guests' needs. Still, it is a nice place to spend e romantic weekend, and time - and management decisions - will show if Pousada das Araras will return to it's more glorious days, or if it will be surpassed by better managed options, more focused on their guests' needs than in saving some cents. Let's see.…
Amazing landscape in a quiet environment, with a very helpful staff. Nice breakfast which is served in the restaurant, but also can be ordered in the rooms (they charge you a tax for that). Wifi only works in the common areas, what at first bothered me, but ended up being a forced way to disconnect. Would definitely recommend it for couples who want to take a break from the city and relax.
It´s a really nice place approx 1,5 hours by car away from Rio. Very peaceful, quiet and breathtaking landscape surrounding you. The Pousada itself is very well managed, food is very good, the chale´s are simple but clean and have all you need. Some have an extra large whirlpool so you look for these ones.
very nicel place with a view of the mountains and a lot of green nice and confortable " chalets" and a lot of good resturants nearby a lot of places for the kids to play the only problem for me was the difficult to use a cell phone even though I had 3 service companies chips but that is not the hotel fault.. and a very goog breakfast and very nice employees
Best place to stay after the hustle and bustle of Rio de Janeiro life style. Spent the Easter break with my family out there and I felt refreshed. You can hear yourself breathing when locked-in in the chalet, which is what I need for a long peaceful nite rest. Breakfast is typical Brazilian style, if you need hot meal, you need to ask for it. The view is astonishing from the restaurant. There is a trail behind the accommodation, not long though but challenging because of the height (980m) for a 500m long trail. There is also a tennis court/football. We spent most of our days at Itaipava and Petropolis, which are decent distance and good drive away from the Accommodation. The staffs are very helpful and nice. You need to watch out for ants etc. we found a scorpion in the first chalet we were given but was changed immediately. To be honey, this doesn't affect my rating of the place. I will be shock if I don't see one before leaving the area :)…
Second time and the place continues to be a very nice Pousada. Friendly environment for a good weekend break. Plenty of good restaurants around the area. Spending a day at Vale da Videira, using guides available for tracking or jeep tours is an excellent choice.
This mountain resort is the best of the area in my books. I have been to a few others (Petropolis, Itaipava), but none compare to this one. Most of these resorts get pretty pricey, specially on local holidays, but for the same cash you're buying quality. You need a car and GPS, but once you get to the town of Araras, you're on the right direction. I strongly recommend the chalets / bungalows. The pool, the SPA are great, and so is breakfast.
