This was our 2nd visit to Ecclefechan & Carlyle House. Craig was again a most welcoming host, despite our late arrival. Delightful period house, gorgeous, very comfortable four poster bed, amenities perfect and everything ‘new pin’ clean. Delicious cooked breakfast and our car parked right outside the (beautiful) front door. Craig’s attention to detail and our comfort was par excellence.... More

Passing through on a John O'Groats to Lands End cycle we arrived around 10pm. Knowing we were going to be too late to get any dinner in the village, Craig had prepared a fantastic dinner for us - at a bargain pice too. Bikes were securely stored for the night. We had an off-suite bathroom but the room was very... More

Stayed over on our way to the Highlands to break the journey. What a lovely find. Beautiful period house, tastefully decorated. Room was large and comfortable with plenty of space for our dog and his bed. Lovely separate bathroom. Fabulous cooked breakfast to see us on our way. Parking right outside the door with a good dinner and a pint... More

Craig and Alex are excellent hosts. The house is lovely and the breakfast room is really homely. A great breakfast and plenty of variety. The two front bedrooms are very spacious and I stayed in the rear room which was lovely and is just about to be renovated. It is my second stay there and I was very pleased they... More

We were absolutely impressed with everything at The Carlyle House. The decor and furnishings are so beautiful and tastefully done; the room good and large; the off-suite bathroom very nice also AND the breakfast - superb! We would definitely stay again if in the Ecclefechan area.

This establishment is very well located just off the motorway. Our room was large and comfortable although the iron bedsteads were rather low-slung but mercifully soft! The bathroom was down the hall and very small with no light over the sink which made shaving hazardous! Breakfast was plentiful although the coffee was rather weak for my taste, but considering a... We stayed here for two nights on our very long journey to Inverness. I must say that this B & B was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was decorated to a very high standard but not at all modern, with old antique type furniture. The house was built in 1795 and used to be a greengrocers at one time.... More

Arrived at Carlyle house to a warm welcome, the owners could not have been more helpful. We had bikes on the back of our car which they offered for us to put in their garage. They also have chickens free ranging in the garden, which made me think we would be having fresh eggs at breakfast. We were in a... More

This is a regular stop off on our way further north twice a year. It must be around 10 years since our first stay here, when run by the mother of the present owner. We can park our boat/trailer round the back overnight, and the dog can stay in the room. The owners make sure we have everything we need... More

My parents and I stayed here twice to break our journey to and from Scotland over a 2 week period. Carlyle House was warm and welcoming and we were really impressed with the "over and above" extras - a lovely piece of homemade cake in the room and also a flask of fresh milk for making drinks. Breakfast was exceptional... More
