My wife and I with another couple we've known for over 40 years stayed here for three nights in early February. The grounds are stunning and the hosts remarkable. Reinhard and Petra run Bushlands Park with passion and enthusiasm. Reinhard's cooking is quite wonderful. We also had the honour to be shown his glass workshop where they both make stunning...

We stayed at Bushland Park Lodge for the final few days of our honeymoon. We were greeted with a glass of bubbles and chocolate-orange truffles made by our hosts, Petra and Reinhard. The grounds were delightful (a highlight was the three sets of wild ducklings who would regularly come over to say hello). Reinhard prepares all of the dinners -...

Wow, what a great weekend we had despite the rain. The adventure began as soon as we turned off the main highway and travelled along the county lane through the forge. The lodge was beautiful, a lovely welcoming fire along with the blackboard greeting. The bed was huge and we had a wonderful nights sleep, it was so peaceful. The...

We have just celebrated my birthday at Bushland Park Lodge and it was just beautiful. A welcoming blackboard message by the front door and a specially printed menu for the evening meal. It is difficult to add to the comments already made because we would wholeheartedly agree with what has already been said. On arrival we sat down for a...

The Bushpark Lodge was a perfect weekend away from work -- calm, peaceful and beautiful. Reinhard and Petra are perfect hosts and made us feel almost as though we were visiting long lost but very welcoming German cousins from the Black Forest. Lovely walks and a beautiful garden in the refreshing climate made Sydney seem so far away (thank goodness)....

We stayed in many lodges in New Zealand but this was just perfect. Discussing our...

Time away from life's pressures whilst being pampered turned in to so much more with Reinhard and Petra. Not only are you treated to mouth watering flavours that you must close your eyes to savour, you are enveloped by an environment where you can finally rest and contemplate. We experienced wonderful conversations reflecting Reinhards experiences and philosophies and came away...

On our journey through New Zealand we stayed at the Bushland Park Lodge for Christmas. It was a great and wonderful stay there. We could really enjoy it because Petra and Reinhard care attentively and friendly about us. The food they cooked by themselves was also brilliant and the luxury rooms and the relaxing athmosphere in their little paradies were...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bushland Park Lodge & Retreat in Whangamata created its own speciality for a high quality and very personal hosting. The owners "Petra & Reinhard" love to share their passion with their guests for fine dining, glass-art & pure nature with New Zealand "bush & beach". Exclusively only 3 fortunate couples experience this very unique place in the Coromandel Peninsula New Zealand with a variety of attractive features: A private glow-worm grotto just 3 minutes from your dining table. Outdoors, close to the lily pond and with total privacy a "Double Slipper Bath" to gaze at the Milky Way stars with Champagne & Candles. Your "private Chef" offers high class cuisine in the Lodge's dining wine cellar; often on his own created art glass dinnerware. Bush walks to the famous Wentworth Falls start at the doorstep, and glorious white-sand beaches are only a few minutes' drive away. Two golf courses close by. Bushland Park Lodge is not just a stop along the way, but a destination in its own right. ... more   less
