We had expected a standard B&B, but what we got verged on a high-end boutique hotel! David and Sallie are the perfect hosts, and have an amazing place set in lovely gardens. If we could, we would have scored Brenton Lodge a 6! Following the warmest of welcomes despite our fairly late arrival, and the surprise of a bottle of...

I stayed my first night in New Zealand here and what a great way to start the holiday! Sallie could not have been more helpful and friendly and the room was beautiful with stunning views. I had a great nights sleep and breakfast on the terrace was a highlight! I'd definitely recommend this place!

Thank you for your review of Brenton Lodge, it was a shame you were here for such a short time - a blessing that you could sit out and enjoy breakfast on the terrace. I really hope the rest of your trip went according to plan, particularly the wedding.

Yes, Brenton Lodge is a lovely place to stay but on our 5 week trip, travelling both islands, we only stayed in B&Bs and several we felt were better at just over half the price! We stayed 4 nights at Brenton Lodge and had trouble finding reasonable restaurants as Whangamata is quite a small place. Trip advisor gives 19 places...

Whangamata and Whitianga are both very popular places to stay when visiting the Coromandel, both are similar in size and offer the independent traveler all the natural beauty and facilities that this peninsula offers. Brenton Lodge is well located to explore the peninsula, and offers, privacy, sea views and spacious accommodation with independent access, there is also the option to...

There is nothing to not like. Beautiful house and rooms in gorgeous gardens. Great swimming pool. Delicious breakfasts. Knowledgeable and helpful hosts. Our room had wonderful views, very comfortable bed and lounge area. All immaculately clean. We were extremely happy here and would visit again.

Felt within moments that we had known Sallie and David for some time, and that they were genuinely pleased to see us. Other people have commented on the facilities and standards set by these two good people - we just felt at home, and what more is there to say? This was our second stay on our New Zealand holiday,...

My husband and I stayed in a lot of hotels during our 3 week honeymoon in New Zealand. However, Brenton Lodge was the stand-out for us. The personal service from Sallie and David was really appreciated. They learnt our name as soon as we checked in and were happy to chat over a drink and give us tips of the...

This is a stunning guesthouse with a beautifully designed guest suite – an Ocean View Suite. This room is in the grounds of the large and beautifully laid out gardens, and is reached by climbing an external stair to a wooden balcony/deck. From here there is a panoramic view of the town and sea. The room was very comfortable and...

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay at Brenton Lodge, staying in May, we can't always rely on good weather, but as you breakfasted on the terrace one morning it must have been OK, all of which adds to the memories of a wonderful holiday.

Back in January we started our month long trip to New Zealand. We decided to stay in the Coromandel on our first stop as it was close to Auckland and after a long flight we wanted to chill out somewhat. After some research we opted for the Brenton Lodge and what a great decision it was. Firstly we stayed in...

Sallie made us so welcome and comfortable, it's impossible to fault Brenton Lodge.
