River Birches Lodge is serene and peaceful. Rooms are big and very comfortable, and our has its own hot tub. There is a stirring room complete with fireplace. The Lodge is next to the river, allowing access to great footpath for walking/running. Best of all was the dinner - delicious!

We cannot say enough about our stay here! Anthony was an amazing host/chef/tour guide. Beautiful and luxurious accommodations, fabulous personalized dinner in a beautiful dining room. Breakfasts were amazing too! We would highly recommend River Birches Lodge for a stay while exploring Turangi, the Tongariro area and Lake Taupo. Anthony and his staff helped us with every little detail. The...

Such a beautiful, relaxing setting. Comfortable, immaculate rooms and common areas. The owners were amazing. They made sure we didn't want for anything. They gave detailed instructions to help with all our planned activities in the area. They made sure we had breakfast waiting for us when we had early starts for the Tongariro Crossing and our flight out of...

We enjoyed our stay at River Birches. The hosts were very welcoming and the Chef, Anthony, made us a delicious breakfast. There aren't many restaurants in town, so if you want a more high-end dinner, I would suggest dining at the lodge. For something very casual but good, the Turangi Tavern works. Being in Turangi, this lodge is fairly close...

Located in a quiet neighbourhood and close to the Tongariro river where you can go for your hike in the woods. The hosts...

We booked four nights and decided to stay longer because the location, accommodations and service were excellent. During our stay every wish was met, we felt like their world revolved around us. They even offered to smoke a rainbow trout we caught fly-fishing that morning - serving it with artisan cheese and wine next to a wood-burning fireplace that evening....

Spent two nights here. The property itself is tucked away in an incredibly peaceful setting with the living and bedrooms opening up to a beautiful garden. It is well situated on the Tongariro River and serves as an excellent base with which to explore Lake Taupo and Tongariro National Park. We were greeted by the owners Rebecca and Jason and...

If you are anywhere near Turangi, you MUST stay a night or two at River Birches. Never mind the beauty of the property, Anthea is the "hostess with the mostess." She is so welcoming and relaxed, that it's almost impossible not to totally unwind yourself. She is an excellent cook, and is willing to share her secrets and recipes.
