This is by far the best hostel we have stayed at in NZ! Really nice staff, clean kitchen and bathrooms and everywhere else. Nice backyard with hammocks, nice eating area and living room with tv and good couches. Really comfy beds, perfect for bodies who are tired and in pain after the Tongariro crossing. Also doesn't have any of those...

Myself and my partner stayed here for 3 nights and it was a lovely friendly and clean hostel. The lady in charge is chatty and helpful and keeps the kitchen area neat and clean. There is free tea and coffee and in the private room a towel which was a nice bonus. The bed was comfortable and the duvet warm...

Amazing hostel with great owners! Craig and Joe (middle aged blonde lady) are the owners and are very kind people. The kindest people i have ever met.Recently read a review about them which said they were not generous well those guys that wrote the review are dicks! I saw how you treated the owners so your review is not warranted...

After a long day cycling, we arrived late at the Extreme Backpackers without reservation. Luckily they still had 2 beds in the dorm available. The place is nice decorated and cozy and we felt a nice vibe. Unfortunately, this vibe vanished quickly the next morning. We woke up and it was raining cats and dogs. Horrible weather to go out...

Listed in BBH my family and I were planning to stay there 2 nights to do the Tongariro crossing. We ended up staying 4 nights this hostel and owners were so nice, friendly and made you feel at home. Very easy going, clean, comfortable hostel. Take some time to chat to Jo and Craig, they are just so lovely. Perfect...

BBH once again delivered a beauty. The hostel was quite quirky and easy to navigate! Free wifi (didn't reach my bedroom but never mind) and the kitchen was very clean! Saw people of all ages and nationalities - families, solo travellers, mature travellers, friends in their 20s etc. My parents had a double room and I went in a dorm...

For a reasonable price (50 NZ$) for me as single I had a double bed with colorful linen. Friendly and helpful staff. Spacy showers. Amazing huge kitchen and "living room". Internal garden for relaxing. Next to i-site, Turangi tavern, New World. Will be there again in a few days

We arrived in the early evening to a very perfunctory greeting. Our host weirdly seemed to think we already knew our way round - we did not. I think we were interrupting his evening. Our ‘family ensuite' room was rudimentary and spartan: the beds had thin foam mattresses, nothing on the walls, and one small, high window in the room....

I stayed here for 3 nights while in town fly fishing. Was a nice friendly and uncrowded atmosphere. I felt like I was out in the country and thats where I wanted to be! Was cleaner than other backpackers places I stayed on the same trip and cost was reasonable. Owners were very nice Mauri family who were kind and...
