The staff and place is amazing. Food in restaurant (both breakfast and dinner) was excellent and the staff looked after everything we could imagine. British Airways lost our luggage and they even offered to do our laundry!!! We will definitely stay here again as we loved the experience! All staff were incredible, but Sharon the manager was so friendly and attentive.
we stayed as a group of 7 people 2 days in “The Mash Tun” in Aberlour and had a really great time. A familiar atmosphere, friendly, really hard-working staff and also “Maurize” had time to nip down there 😊 Karen managed it to get once again a table in the evening on the second day in the well booked restaurant for us 7. We also tasted there the offered composed “whisky-flights”. A rich breakfast on both days completed our pleasant stay. If we’re returning someday, than surely to “TMT”. Slainte
The staff were friendly and service was attnetive. lovely atmosphere. Pleased to find a tasty vegetarian meal. Everyone else in the bar looked happy too! Pity we couldn't sample the extensive choice of whiskies.
We spent a few days here while touring distilleries in the area.. A great central location overlooking the river. The room was very nice, although the shower was a bit tight. Breakfast was excellent with a nice choice of kippers to a full Scottish. We had dinner as well and it to was very good. It hasn't changed much since I was last here 14 years ago, but the new paint color was bright and cheery.
We stayed for 5 days for our distillery tour. It was a great experience for us for both staying and enjoying the bar. All people working are really warm so you feel yourself at home. Clean and comfortable rooms, heating is working fine. It is very close to river Spey so very nice to walk around. Totally recommended!
We stayed at The Mash Tun one night back in October, 2021. Our host, Karen made everything just perfect. We stayed in the MacCallum Room-third floor with a divine view of the River Spey. We dined in what I would call a proper Scottish Whisky Bar, and sleep like babies. Breakfast was amazing, and the entire experience was beyond all expectations. Bravo, and we cannot wait to return. Slainte!
We were in the area on a tour of Scotland, to go to a few distilleries. We decided to pop in for a few drams in the afternoon, having found the pub online. It has an excellent whisky collection, much of it from the local area. You cannot fault the pub for what it is My only downside was that the website makes the pub seem really glossy and well polished. I found the bar area to be a little more tired than the pictures perhaps suggested. However, this all adds into the ambience.
What a great find for our 2 night stay in Aberlour. The Mash Tun is perfect for a short stay in Speyside. Our only mistake was not booking dinner for the first night of our stay as we had already eaten en route. The breakfast's and dinner we did have were of a very hght standard with plenty of choice. The owners and all the staff were very friendly and made us very welcome. We will definitely returning as soon as possible.
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in The Mash Tun, we booked a large double room and were given The Glenlivet. We were delighted with the room, great views over The Spey and a fabulous roll top bath to soak well walked bones and then wrap up in a comfy robe and slippers provided. The building is beautifully rustic but well cared for and clean. The team who looked after us during our stay were wonderful. Breakfast was superb with lots of selections and full table service and very personal and homely. Evening meals are of an excellent standard, with a wide selection for all tastes and well priced, presented to a high standard. And whisky, well there’s lots and lots of that! The staff have a brilliant knowledge, you just need to ask and they are more than happy to share it with you. The location of The Mash Tun was ideal for us and what we wanted for our trip to Speyside. It’s right on a section of The Speyside Way, with well signposted good paths to take in the local walks. And ideal for exploring by car with many good tourist sights within easy reach. Thanks to all of the staff for making our stay so lovely! You can have a great product but it’s the people who make it special and The Mash Tun have a great bunch.…
A nice pub very near to the banks of the River Spey. The Covid protection was great to see. The owners had a great range of drams on offer and did slot of varied whiskey flights. We had a great meal of lamb with veg a couple of whiskies to accompany. The bathrooms were clean and car parking was not an issue. Thank you guys
